Thread: rear numberplate lights

  1. #1

    Default rear numberplate lights

One of my rear number plate light lens was broken, and the citroen garage gave me a complete replacement light.
Ot looked like there was just a clip holding it in place, but i want to check how this should be replaced, does it remove from the outside, or do i have to remove the trim to change it, and if so, how does trim remove, ive just aquired a c2 enterprise

I had to replace one of mines before my MOT last month...you can just unclip from the outside, replace the bulb and clip the top back on (in an 04' VTR at least).

I just bought some LED number plate lights, is there a trick for getting the originals out?
I tried sliding them to one side and they start to come out but stop.
    Help please.

I had to destroy mine to get them out, does not seem anyway other than to break the clips. I stand to be corrected but it was the only way I found, it is like the spring clip is on the wrong side as the moulding for the connector gets in the way of removal.

I just bought some canbus LED bulbs as trek advised, and worked a treat. Just pop cover off and change for new bulbs, simples!

Maybe a certain way they come out, but agreed when I had a look at them, apart from popping with flathead screwdriver, there doesn't seem to be another way.

If you disassemble the interior wiper motor etc you can get them out but they are a pain

I was but my current finance on the C2 is too high to add to a new car and would make the monthly payments almost double.

Russ, just wanted to know if these lights are durable/ worth fitting before I attempt to swap bulbs for these. As bulbs have started flickering a little bit. Did you pop them from outside of car?

They are still going strong and still look great. Also just had my MOT last week and there were no issues with them. Yeah you have to pop the old light fittings out from the outside, each light slides to one side a little bit so you can remove them. They can be tricky to pull out and you might end up breaking the old fitting but don't worry coz these LED ones perfect 👌

LookS brilliantly bright m8 . I've ordered same lights a week ago and I was hesitating to fit the new lights .the reason is simple. I was unable to take the old parts off and I don't want to break the old fitting ,so i give it up.but now after I read this thread i will fit them. Thanks everybody.

Think anyone would struggle not to break old ones, but could always source some more originals if you had enough of led ones. 👍
