Thread: Car keeps cutting out / Snowflake

Default Car keeps cutting out / Snowflake

    Good afternoon,

    I have 2004 C2 Sensodrive.

On odd occasions, the gearbox changes down the gears quite fast and goes into snowflake mode and cuts out.

Sometimes, you hear a peep, and the car will continue to drive until you stop, and it stalls / cuts out with a snowflake.

The mechanic has reset stuff previously and says it's ok, but it keeps happening.

He gave me a temporary fix while out driving, which consists of taking off positive battery cable for a few minutes, reconnecting, turning on ignition with foot on the brake for a couple of minutes.

I hear clicking and clunking, and then the car starts.

I have no knowledge of car mechanics, but I bet one of you fine folk can point me in the right direction ?

    Thanks.

You need to get it connected to dealer level software (no general diagnostic software will work correctly) "Lexia" is the name it will check sensors on gearbox, It could also be loosing a signal from another ECU such as ABS.
Try switching to manual mode and change up manually (it should still change down on it own) using stick or flappy paddles.

You would be better trying to find a small independent Citreon specialist (make sure he has proper Citreon diagnostic gear) the problem with dealer is they will just want to put new gearbox on its down to them warranting there work.

So.... Citroen hooked it up to there equipment. I went on Friday to get an update.
some very expensive cable, lots of other stuff.

All this for a mere 1800 Euro.

More than the car is worth !

I will take your advice and find a local deal with Citroen gear.

    Thanks again.

If Its a cable loom any good auto electrician should be able to repair it or fit one from breakers yard.

Did they take money off you in return for a service? In this case to diagnose and quote for a repair on your car? Did they provide you with a written quote of the fault and total cost of parts and repair? If so can you tell us what the quote said? You are entitled to know what they believe the fault is and what they believe the rectification is. THEY CANNOT CHARGE YOU TO SIMPLY REPLACE PARTS UNLESS YOU DIRECT THEM TO DO SO!! You are paying them to FIX the car, not randomly replace parts! Did they provide this service for free? If so, then you got your money’s worth! If they charged you for a service (to quote for repairs on the car) and did not provide you with said quote then they are in breach of consumer laws. To TAKE money from someone without providing goods or service is called ROBBERY! However, if you GIVE money to someone…well that’s your choice.
