Default Clutch replacement + Other things...

My clutch was starting to slip. Turns out hydraulic oil had been leaking over it so needs replaceing.

I've been quoted 280 for new clutch, drive shaft seals and oil.

45 for new (Where oil was leaking from)

He also said when he took a look, the clutch hydraulic pipe was very corroded. He has quoted 100 fitted for this.
I don't know much about the workings of clutches, but what is this last one? Also is the price ok for that and the rest?

If you have gearbox oil on the clutch then the front input bearing has failed , don’t just replace the seal , or you are wasting time and money .
Replace the gearbox bearing ( it’s a strip job) and front oil seal assembly

Just asked him about the bearing. He said he's also replacing the thrust bearing. Are they the same thing? The 45 I mentioned before was the seal. So all in 325.

It’s not the thrust bearing , if he grabs hold of the input shaft there should be no play in any direction , there a bearing in the gearbox that drops to bits

    That's cheap.
I've had several quotes recently for a clutch on the mrs Loeb.
The cheapest quote was (believe it or not) from Citroen - the fixed price essentials option. However... When we booked it, Citroen said they couldn't do it for that price, because the essentials clutch was NFP and they're unable (READ: TOTALLY FUCKING UNWILLING) to source an alternative (from the tens of options out there)
So... I'm gonna end up doing it myself.

Just got my car car back from having the work done. I mistakenly thought it was gear box oil leaking onto the clutch. It was engine oil.

    All working perfectly now.

He has mentioned though that the slave cylinder has a tiny amount of fluid on it, he said its more than likely a slow leak which will probably get worse over time.
He's advised to have that done at the same time as the clutch pipe.

    This sound about right?
