    Default C2 VTR won't lock

    Can you help peeps,

I've just traded my vx astra estate in for a C2 VTR 1.4hdi 58 plate for my 17 yr old son to learn in
The problem is that I bought it from a garage in Wales last week and it won't lock on the central locking
either on the remote or on the drivers door lock.

To cut a long story short the garage is refusing to fix it as I knocked him down on the price, not happy 😠

Turns out he's bought a cheap replacement key fob from eBay and changed the blade over

So the main priority is to get the car to lock the whole car from the drivers door.
Is there a switch or linkage that has come off inside the door panel ??

    Any help is much appreciated

Dose the remote work when near the ignition?

I don't think there is a way to lock the passengers door without the remote.
The only way to make sure the car is locked fully till you get it fixed it to open the boot with the doors closed get a stick and push the central locking button on the dash to lock the doors then close the boot

There's a small emergency lock point on the passenger door near the latch
Insert end of key and rotate it , shut the door , should be locked , if not open door and rotate it the other way
You need to tie the key back to the car

Sorry, but the drivers side lock IS NOT connected to the central locking in the C2. It just locks and unlocks the drivers door (yes I know, it's stupid).

You're best off concentrating on the key transmitter as TREK said.

And the car still starts? Did he replace the circuit board and the chip? Sorry, do you know?

The remote is dead, changed battery and also tried the re-bind method with turning the ignition on and pressing the lock button for 10 seconds but nothing.

There is an emergency manual lock on the inside of the door shut, this at least gets both main doors locked, but the boot remains open.

Not tried locking from the boot and pressing the dash button, I'll try that in the mean time.. Thx

Thx, yeah I know about the emergency lock, cheers
As for the key and tie back in, a trip to Citroen revealed I might need to order a whole new key to try to fix the issue, but this might not even fix it !

This seems really stupid, can't understand why ?
My C4 Loeb and my C4 Grand Picasso both lock the whole car from the drivers door with the key

There must be some kind of switch or pick up from the central locking detecting the key is locking the car, surely ?

The central locking does lock the three doors with the dash button, so each of the door motors/actuators do work, just not from the remote or the door lock, I'm baffled

I sent the C2 into Citroen yesterday for them to investigate the fault and to do a service on the car, well to cut a long story short, the knob of a mechanic mis-read the job card, he done the service and noted the central locking doesn't work ( I know you donkey, that's why your looking at it ), but he didn't do anything or investigate and noted a new key fob and investigation need to try to fix the fault.

Not sure, I'll try when I get home.
After a heated conversation he admitted he'd got the car from the previous owner who'd lost both the keys, one the whole key, the other he only had the blade and back half of the fob, so he ordered a replacement off eBay and used his Snap-On tool to program the new key to start the car but the remote doesn't work

    Hope this make sense

Citroen C2 drivers door lock is not connected electrically to anything , it's just an emergency lock to get you in to the car if the remote key fails or the battery dies

Ok, done a quick test and took the circuit board out of the key and tried to start the car, the immobiliser kicked in ,
So the circuit board works, the immobiliser works but the remote and central locking doesn't, strange

Better late than never, our C2 r/c/l was working fine on the fob until recently. Long story
Short, all of the component contacts in the key had developed some green oxidisation
Probably to do with the British weather and, a GENTLE brush with a babys toothbrush
Restored the key to normal working order. The prob was more than likely due to accumulated
Condensation inside the key case so keeping the key dry is 'the key' to avoiding r/c/l hiccups.
Alright im sorry for the pun but just couldn't resist it.
