Hi ha. Not direct, need to cut a bit of the top of the turret To allow the adjustable parts to have the room to be adjustable. Unfortunately do not have any pictures of any fitted as yet.

I've received your fixed mounts I've noticed there's no location screw so is it a nut and bolt job to the turret?

Yes nut and bolt just to keep in place nothing else. Make sure the circlip is pointing downwards when fitting (sorry to perhaps state the obvious) as some think they don't fit as have the wrong way up.

Well I finally did the trial and nothing fits. The washer with out the threads won't go over the threads and the bolt with washer won't go over the top of the strut? These were going to get fitted tomorrow but looks like change of plan

What struts do you have OEM or aftermarket?

You've got the wrong size sleeve nut and washer that's all.

Hi, okay I have looked through this and what you need is top caps to suit your shocks and springs. Either 2 1/4 or 2 1/2. These are here: http://c2motorsportparts.com/shop/pr...ry/top-mounts/

You also need to check you have the right slieves for your shocks, Standard C2's are M14 x 1.5 which are supplied with the top mounts. If you need a different size let me know. I am about to add the full varients to my site.

When you have there, you need to fit the springs on the struts, then the caps, then follow my pictures below. The example is with a standard C2 strut with a standard C2 top Cap already on.

Obviously, the last picture shows the pacement of the top mount it would also have the strut assembly with it(!). The second to last is showing the gap and where the lug sticks out which is cleared by the sleeve.

Then postion in the right place and drill through the top of the turret and bolt on from under the bonnet. Make sure the top mount is the correct way up, the Circlip always faces down. Top Mount strengthening plates are now available for these mounts (including the adjustable ones) which adds strength, and is also great for marking out as pre drilled.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

    Regards

    Wayne

I take it you weld the plates to the top after cutting the hole? Like a saxo etc ?

The top strengthening plates yes. Only do inch alternate welds around as there is flex in the turret. It can then flex and if going to give anywhere it's in one of the small welds so easily seen.

    How thick are they?
I will speak to my fabby and see what he says and go with that, his shells don't fail.....
I thought the idea of re enforcing the strut tops is so the don't flex? Every car I've ever had strut plates welded on and the rally 205's at work are a continuos weld around the strut top so that it is fully skinned not allowing flex

3mm i think. I dont have one here to measure. These top mounts are general purpose for between the fixed and adjustable top mounts. We are producing some alternatives just for the fixed which have a reduced hole in the centre to match the rose joint nut. This will add a fraction more strength, ***not that the others are not fit for purpose, just fine tuning and offering quality solutions.

Whether to weld all the way around or not depends on personal choice. We (my motorsport advisor/mechanic) think there will be some give, and its better it on a top mount strengthening plate weld where you can see it, other then the stress causing a tear/break somewhere like under the wheel arch where you cannot. The main purpose of the strenthening plates is to strenthen the suspension turret so your shocks dont come through the bonnet(!), secondary is to give some extra rigidity.

Also, we are just in final negotiations with a new range of LED light bars which is taking off at the moment in the rally world... Watch this space. This is an example of what they look like

I think you need 5/8 ones. see picture below has the M14 x 1.5 on the right and 5/8 on the left. 5/8 = 15.8750mm

    FullSizeRender copy 4.jpg

If you can check what size thread is on the shock it would help lots. Just spoken to Compbrake also, and they say they have never had a requirements for any sizes over and above the ones they/we sell. so i think 5/8 may be the answer. What struts are they again as want to publish the knowledge of sizes on the item description online for future shoppers?
