Default El Cap's 54 Blue VTS

Here's a few pics of my C2. Well, I say mine, it was really bought for Mrs Cap. She wouldn't drive the Subaru Legacy we had before and I needed her to get back driving again and I made the mistake of letter her choose which car we got...

However, I digress. The car's a 54 plate VTS. Done a fair few miles, but that's not too much of an issue as I have family who work in the motor trade. The bodywork is by no means perfect, but then this isn't going to be a 'show car'. It's main duties will be carrying the shopping from Morrisons.

As collected (the pics were taken on the way home):

It came with a Powerflow Cat-back exhaust:

Well, actualy, it came with two:

To be honest, I didn't realise the VTS didn't come with a dual exit exhaust until I started to look around at them after getting this one...

You may also notice from the pics that it's fitted with aftermarket rear lights. They're okay, I may change them for something else in the future.

Since then, I've fitted a new headunit (Kenwood DPX502U):

    Including an iPod/MP3 player interface/cablemabob

I've also fitted the Kenwood KSC-SW1 under the driver's seat, with it's remote installed in the glove-box - no pics yet.

Interior has also been decked out with new rubber maps (you can just make them out in the photo above) and boot liner. and blue bulbs in the courtesey lights.

Only exterior change at the moment is the mini-bee-sting ariel:

Got chromed indicator bulbs and 6500k blue headlight bulbs on order.

Apart from that, not sure what I'll do to this as It needs to be reliable. May fit an induction kit, but again, not sure if I'll go down this route or just fit a panel filter. Suspension is more than adequate for my needs, so I won't be lowering it (too many speed bumps in Barry...). I'm not 100% sure that the springs haven't been upgraded at some stage as the car does seem very stiff.

There's a couple of bits missing, the rear rubber caps from the headlights (managed to get one from a local scrapyard), the battery cover and the hatch cover for the storage area in the lower tailgate. Going to keep looking for these (on-line and in local breakers).

Today, it's been washed, de-tarred, clayed, washed (again) and waxed. It's now very shiny, but too dark to take any decent pictures.

They are fairly stiff standard and doesn't look bad in the pics presume you got it for a GD price if it's done a few miles

    A few updates:

Chrome repeaters in the side lights:

Chrome repeaters, blue main and side bulbs:

Now for some work on cleaning up the engine bay. This is how it is now, as it came:

That heat-shield has just got to be polished:

Also came across a couple of strange wires and plugs:

My son thinks they may be from a HID kit as there's another set behind the other light, but there's no 'boxes'.

Took the airbox apart and there's just a standard filter, that's in quite bad condition so a K&N one has been ordered. I've also ordered a battery cover and think I've managed to locate another lamp cover.

I've also removed the OEM front speakers and temporarily fitted an old pair of Sony ones - still waiting for the Edge ones to turn up. Not sure yet about the rear ones. I don't really want to have to change them, but I know in a few weeks time, I will...

    Woop Woop!

Son's garage got a C2 in today as a part ex, that's probably going to be scrapped. I got a pair of Citroen wind deflectors, the lamp covers I needed, a battery cover and the rear tailgate shelf my car was missing.

Very happy. Pics to follow once I've cleaned and fitted them.

And today, for some unknown reason, the parking sensors have decided to work.

But today, they've stopped working again... I give up!

Today's upgrades include fitting new Alpine speakers all round (details in the ICE section), fitting a K&N panel filter and making a new rubber washer/grommit/thingymabob for the rear tailgate hatch cover out of a piece of fuel pipe. I also started polishing the heatshield in the engine bay, but that's going to take a while to get how I want it and as It's Mrs Cap's birthday this weekend, I can't spend all my time 'playing' with the car. It will get washed tomorrow and I'll take pics though.

Finally got round to taking some updated pictures:

Next door's C2 in the background (which is definitely isn't as shiny as mine...)

That's been achieved using Liquid Gold shampoo and Demon Shine (struggling for time at the moment. It will get polished properly next weekend).

Quick update: Been a bit unhappy with a couple of rusty bolts. The two that hold the plastic tray to the lower tailgate, that are quite prominent when you open up the boot. Having tried the "vinegar" method, with medocre results, I decided to try something a little different...

This is the bolt upon removal from the car:

Spend about 15 minutes removing the rust with a brass wire brush on the Dremel, then fine wet&dry. It then ended up looking like this:

I then washed it in warm water (bear with me here), to clean off any resudual dust. I then coated in in Birchwood Casey Perma Blue:

    http://sport.birchwoodcasey.com/Fini...6-81a867399319

This is the stuff that's used on metal gun parts to make them black (although the technical term is blueing).

A quick wash with warm water once coated and then a quick rub over with some oil (3 in1 works fine for this) and the finished bolt looks like this when re-fitted:

I've also done the engine cover and airbox bolts with this.

Bit of a make-over of the interior:

    Carbon wrapped the door handles:

    Fitted some seatbelt covers:

If I'm honest, I'm not a huge fan of these, but Mrs Cap kept complaining the seatbelt was annoying her neck. This is the 2nd set to arrive. After specifically ordering blue ones from a vendor in Hong Kong, black ones with red writing arrived. The sent out the 2nd set pretty quickly after complaining and I got to keep the black ones.

Installed a couple of cup/ashtray/pot thingymabobs:

These aren't C2 specific ones. I couldn't justify 14 for one, however these were only 3 each.

Been having a problem with the memory stick on the headunit. I kept knocking it when changing gear:

So I came across these 90 degree adaptors (on Ebay) and ordered some:

And, yes, I know the interior needs a good clean - been too busy actually using the car this week.

Next on the list is to do something about the peeling film on the steering wheel. I don't want to have to change the whole wheel. I think a cover of some discription will do. Anyone got any suggestions?

Assuming it's the black and blue one that's in your thread, looks pretty good, where did you get it from?

So the stubby aerial went from this:

    To this:

Thought it might of been something I'd done - car shampoo, back 2 black etc, but if you look underneath, it's still black:

Contacted the supplier and they sent me a replacement one, which is much better quality and a much better fit and look:

Started work on cleaning up the engine bay. I've painted the heatshield black, but if I'm honest, it looks pretty crap - it started raining half way through doing it. Hopefully it will stay dry tomorrow so I can finish this off.

Engine Bay as of today (Also note brand new aero-blade-wipers):

As mentioned before, I'm not 100% happy with my painting on the heatshield, but it does look better than it did. When I have time to take it off, I'll do it properly.

Found some anodised alloy washers in my bike parts bin, so fitted them to the cover bolts as a nice subtle mod:

Pity they're for the next size up bolts... I need to have a look for some wider ones. Would like them to completely fill the bottom of the holes.

Next step for the engine bay will probably be some coloured conduit type stuff to cover the wires and hoses. I know someone on here has done their's with the blue stuff. I think I'd be looking at doing mine red.

I've been thinking about it, but I'm just useless at spraying. Also been considering carbon wrapping them.
