Default Reprogramming C2 Design Plip Key

Hi, I am new to this site as I have just become a C2 owner a 2006 design. I have noticed that on my bash display that it was saying "plip battery". Looking online earlier it says to change remote control key fob battery. (my key is the flip out 2 button type with no led light). I changed battery and car will not lock or unlock now. I think because the battery was out to long the key needs reprogramming. Does anybody know how to reprogram the plip as I have looked online but can only find instructions for every key except mine. Thanks

Try putting the key into the ignition, turn the ignition on and hold the lock button for 10-15 seconds, remove the key and test.
Sometimes it takes a min or so after programming so might not work straight away.

If I try to lock or unlock the car with the remote key nothing happens. I can start the car when I put the key in the ignition. I can lock the drivers door with the key thats it.

    PLIP PROGRAMMING

    1. Turn the Ignition switch to the ON possition

    2. Press and hold the LOCK button for 10 seconds.

3.Turn the ignition OFF and wait for 3 seconds.

    4. Remove key and check the Plip key operation.

    5. Repeat for second Plip key if required.

if the key is locking but not opening then then the key is programmed but your button has probably broken. They are quite fragile when they are taken appart and the solder tends to break. they can be soldered back on or a new button fitted its not a big job and cheaper than a new remote.

Mine stopped working at some point, thought the problem was the battery, so i replaced it. Nothing happened, so i started verifying the fuses, at which point i came to the conclusion that all of them were alright. Then i tried resetting it using the method described by J88DSF. Now my key's working well, the only problem that i always had, is that i can lock the car and unlock it 10 minutes after turning the engine off, after that it is impossible to unlock it using the key.

Did you use a cheap battery as the key fob hates them. Go for a Duracell.

If i'll ever encounter any problems with it, i'll replace it with a Duracell for sure.

    Default Used Plip

I obtained a remote for a C2 from a breakers yard, should this procedure work to program it to my car? I tried it several times but no success. The original still works fine however. I have a 2005 VTR.

Unfortunately this is not how you reprogram a new key fob transponder to your car's immobilizer. The plip programing sequence listed above is only to be used when your original remotes changes battery or suffers a power failure as this will remind the car that this is your key.

In order to reprogram an alien key you need to use Lexia and follow the sequence within the program. Virgin keyfobs, which are recommended for this procedure, are obtainable for a small amount of money from ebay.

Ones from easydiagnostics are well recommended as working without any problems, on another forum.
Rather than buying one, you could just find someone local to you that already has one and is prepared to help.

I have an easy diagnostic set up as well as a genuine one , you cannot reprogram used keys to start the car ( without changing the chip on early keys , or without specialist equipment
You also need bsi card ( comes with car when new ) as it has the necessary code required to unlock access to higher bsi functions
