View Full Version : Cheshire Citroen meet

musicaldesigner

I was wondering how many people would be interested in having a citroen meet in and around cheshire.

people owning C2's,C4's etc.

Trying to organise something in the near future.

Please give ideas of ideal location, bearing in mind travel time and routes.

No trouble causing with loud music and other antics such like, just a peaceful gathering. :!:

Danny
22-09-2005, 01:43 PM
Could possibly make that, be a change from people only organising South meets.

A few of us in the Midlands could meet somewhere in between, and Jerry is up near you. ;)

musicaldesigner
22-09-2005, 01:51 PM
I would be great if we could get something sorted soon, ive not been to any meets in my life so should be a good experience.

Already been in touch with jerry.

pease try to drum up as much support as possible, i shall do the same in my neighbourhood.

Danny
22-09-2005, 02:00 PM
If we can think of a date and time, possibly before the dark nights draw in. I'm sure a few of the members around the Midlands etc would turn up.

I'm in Tamworth, so only a few junctions up the Toll road for me and missus.

Any activities we could do around that area or in between?

musicaldesigner
22-09-2005, 02:31 PM
Hanley's Festival park, www.festival-park.co.uk (click on leisure), potteries shopping center www.potteries-shopping-centre.co.uk/ SOT, plenty of pubs to choose from if requiring meals, Snugburrys ice cream farm www.snugburys.co.uk on chester road from crewe. Hack green secret bunker (not so secretive nowadays and admission fee of around £5per person) www.hackgreen.co.uk . Stapely water gardens (which has the palms, admission fee req.) www.stapeleywg.com

My time is very flexible in the evening and weekend.

Jimbo
22-09-2005, 10:51 PM
Yep, i am up for this for defo, only 45 mins away from Crewe on the excellent Cheshire back routes.

Just let me know a time and a date and i wil try and be there. Might even bring along the C3 Pluriel if it is a 'Citroen' meet!

Jeremy_VTR
22-09-2005, 11:45 PM

Jeremy_VTR
23-09-2005, 12:20 AM
Jimbo and whoever it is in Chester (can't remember name!) could hook up at mine (M6 J18) and cruise down in convoy! Cool!

Danny
23-09-2005, 12:36 AM
Stafford services is fine with us :)

PinkEmily
23-09-2005, 12:40 AM

Jeremy_VTR
23-09-2005, 12:52 AM
Remember to say whether it's North or South LOL

Danny
23-09-2005, 12:53 AM
LOL :D

Is there somewhere off the motorway we could meet? NOT a Maccy's though :)

Jeremy_VTR
23-09-2005, 12:55 AM
There's Cannock Chase south of Staffs which could be quite pretty.

Hang on, it's getting a bit far for me LOL.

Holmes Chapel is nice this time of year!

Danny
23-09-2005, 12:59 AM
Hehe, i'm not fussed tbh, Jerry's back garden it is then! ;)

PinkEmily
23-09-2005, 01:02 AM

PinkEmily
23-09-2005, 01:03 AM
lol evry1

Danny
23-09-2005, 02:04 AM
LOL, :D:D:D:D:D

Jerry ...

You'll be getting the nickname 'Little John' ;) lol

musicaldesigner
23-09-2005, 11:34 AM
Delamere Forest is a great suggestion pink emily:!: , then if people wish to pop in to Snugburrys ice cream farm on way home, back towards M6 we could.

I thought i would have a general citroen meet due to the fact (I can't call it a c2 meet as i now have a C4coupe.) TRAITOR.

Here are a few dates to get the ball rolling then we shall work out a final date and organise a time. I wish to try and keep majority happy. Altough some people may not be able to make it.

OCT:sat 1st or sun2nd (Next weekend)
8th or 9th
15th or 16th
22nd or 23rd
However if this one is a success we can always organise another meet when lighter nights start to come back. (or even a christmas special) :D .

Start or meet up time for southern/midlands/stafforshire could be near jeremy if he is available or near me Jcn 16 M6. at around 10-11am if this time is convienient then at the forest 12-1pm.

Please note the forest venue may change. :!: however all updates shall be posted here.

i am trying to keep members as happy as possible.

Danny
23-09-2005, 11:38 AM
LOL @ Christmas Special :D:D:D:D:D

We could always apply to Men & Motors for a slot :) ;)

musicaldesigner
23-09-2005, 12:18 PM
wow you mean me could do that and appear on tellie LOL   :P

We must also think about not clogging up entrances, car park space, and road space towards, at the venue or leisurly drive and away home,As this could become disaterous with land owners and the boys in blue. :!:

we will have to keep numbers of vehicles to a sensible number. and possibly just to club members/close friends. :?:

Remember No loud music or screeching tyres etc. i don't wish to be a party pooper but please we have to be sensible.

PinkEmily
23-09-2005, 06:58 PM
i could only possibly do late october, if that. christmas special would be good!

Jeremy_VTR
23-09-2005, 11:06 PM
Not 8-9 Oct as other priorities that weekend. Otherwise yes!

Make a decision, MD, and we'll fall in line!

Jimbo
24-09-2005, 12:53 AM
rite, i cant do 1st october, in wolverhampton with my father, but can do the 2nd october (sunday) and any other date after that!

Could i meet up with you Jeremy in Holmes Chapel? whenever the meet is.

Danny
24-09-2005, 02:56 AM
Hows Sunday 16th October sounds to everyone? :)

Jimbo
24-09-2005, 03:14 AM
Sounds good to me b05f

Danny
24-09-2005, 03:22 AM
All we got to decide on is where? ;)

As long as everyone can make that date, or a decent number anyway :)

c2ology
24-09-2005, 03:35 AM
We haven't actually had any real meets yet. Everytime we plan one it seems to fall the last minute.

Danny
24-09-2005, 03:43 AM
I THOUGHT THERE HAD BEEN A COUPLE, AS WELL AS THE CAMPING WEEKEND? :)

c2ology
24-09-2005, 03:56 AM
In total we have had 3 good official club meets and the camping weekend. Apart from that all the others havent worked out. :(

24-09-2005, 04:30 AM
Maybe because its a national (and in some cases, an international) site?

Hopefully, if someone can organise a stand at some of the big shows, more people will want to meet up for the shows in the summer.? 8)

Jeremy_VTR
24-09-2005, 03:08 PM
I'm proposing a weekend next May 06 for the next camping weekend. Details to be confirmed.

16 Oct prob ok for me.

Jimbo welcome to meet at mine, and anyone else. In practice Sandbach Services south (M6 J17-J16) is good too.

Come on MD - make some plans ;) !

Danny
24-09-2005, 04:04 PM
Can anyone who can and wants to make it for Sunday 16th October, please add there name to this section.

That way, 'musicaldesigner' has some idea on numbers.

Could meet at Services or Jerry's, have a chat, drive around and then some lunch (good pubs anyone?) Another cruise (possible to somewhere of interest?) and then gather back at service/Jerry's before heading home.

Just a suggestion, many more welcome. we need to start somewhere Ladies and Gentlemen. :)

LIST:

blue05furio (Danny & Rachel)

Jimbo
24-09-2005, 04:20 PM

Not at mine. Neighbours won't take kindly to a line of cars up the road!!!!

I suggest peeps can meet me at Sandbach Services if they want and then we'll cruise down to the main meet, if that venue is different.

MD/Danny - take the lead on the main venue!

Could current attendees give me further ideas near south cheshire for a venue of interest. and opinions on my other suggestions.

i wish to try and make the south cheshire meet a success all round, no hickups or trouble.

Jimbo
26-09-2005, 11:32 PM
I will now be bringing my C2, the Pluriel has been booked in for work over that weekend, so 4 C2's and a C4 so far?

I will talk to my mother about other areas of interest, she knows most of the events that are going on over the next few weekends in Cheshire.

P50LJB
27-09-2005, 01:06 AM
Are there any meets in Lancashire? I live near Preston and meet at Warrington, but don't see too many C2's there. I only have a 1.1 SX but she's good enough for me X C2 rule X, and an induction systems makes her sound pretty sweet!

Hi and welcome to the club mate! ;)

Not sure if many members live up your way but you can ask on the boards to see if anyone is interested. Lancashire is quite a journey for people in the south :)

Jimbo
27-09-2005, 02:19 AM
I live on the border of Lancashire, Manchester.

Welcome to the club mate, and a great choice of car, i have a 1.1 SX too.

Yes, hopefully people will make the 16th October, Sunday. Not sure on a location.

Someone mentioned meeting at Sandbach Services i think but need to find a location/activity or some place of interest to go afterwards. ;)

We are in tamworth, so not too far from you.

Jimbo
27-09-2005, 10:44 PM
Where abouts in Manchester BoydyGT? I live south manchester, Stockport.

There is not much to do in Crewe at all, just another town with shopping centres, lol, how about meet at Sandbach Services, Southbound then a cruise up through Holmes Chapel and the back routes that way and stop off at a pub for some grub? Only my basic idea

andyc2
27-09-2005, 11:51 PM

So we've got a range from Walsall/Tamworth up to Lancashire, across to Chester.

Come on MD and B05F - make some suggestions!

Can meet up at Sandybach first for a mini cruise to the main cruise too...

Danny
28-09-2005, 01:29 AM
I have looked in the area around Crewe/Holmes Chapel and to be honest there doesn't seem to be alot.

One place i found is Stapeley Wtaer Gardens/Tropical Oasis (http://www.stapeleywg.com/palms.asp?style=palms)

Location here: Location (http://www.stapeleywg.com/findus.asp?style=swg)

We could meet at Sandbach Services (Southbound) and then get lunch or a bite to eat at Stapeley and maybe go in the Tropical Oasis:

Admission Charges to The Palms Tropical Oasis

Adult £4.45
Child £2.60
Senior Citizen/Student £3.95 (Jerry) ;)
Family Ticket (2A, 2C) £12.10
(2A, 3C) £14.30

There is no charge to the Garden and Angling Centre

Any better suggestions, please add as i am stuck for elsewhere locally to us all ;)

p.s. Only other area i could think of is the Peak District but roads would be narrow or Matlock ???

Jeremy_VTR
28-09-2005, 01:46 AM
Matlock is too inaccessible (time).

Stapeley a possible I guess. In the past, we get to a venue then everyone turns up their nose at the entry price (Santa Pod at meet #1).

LOL at my ticket price. Student, of course!

Just been looking on Multimap for inspiration. Couldn't find it.

There's Festival Park near Stoke on Trent. Got a bowling/cinema/Maccy D's/Fatty A's/Morrisons cafe etc. Just a thought. Easy access off the A50.

Danny
28-09-2005, 01:51 AM
£4.65 isn't alot, even for the tight wads lol :)

Did someone say Senior Citizen???

(See my profile) Who's a cheeky person :x  (i could say something but moderators would ban me)

but you are correct not much to do in Crewe. small town shops on more shops 1 cinema another being built. too many and manky takaways and pubs. (i dont use the local shops or pubs unless i have to) usually go to stoke on trent shopping and use the country pubs.

As suggested in previous posts myself and Blue05furio have looked into Stapeley Watergardens and tropical oasis seems good, i enjoyed it last time i went, lots of parking space, (shouldn't be too busy on a sunday but could be)

Festival park Hanley SOT as myself and Jeremy have suggested (see posts for website)

Delamere forest as myself and pinkemily have added, or as suggested by VTRD55, Chester yes nice place, but main city (could get split up traffic jams and lights plus parking fees) unless we use the park and ride scheme into city centre Both of which could mean Snugburrys ice cream farm (see previous post for website) who also have a haysculpture of the london eye this year. On return journey to M6 if people are up for it.

Hack green bunker (see posts for webpage) admission fee!

I think we are best choosing one of these places at least.

So far attendees are:

Stapeley Watergardens and tropical oasis, seems to be the most viable plan then so far :!:

This is just ouside NANTWICH the next town from crewe and easy access from M6 Jcn16 via A500 new bypass through shavington.and crewe straight up to nantwich. i shall organise a small map for each atendee showing route. (saying this you can't go wrong even without a map!)

Danny
29-09-2005, 01:32 PM
Stapeley, lunch and a cruise seems the best option. Not expensive at less than a fiver for the Tropical Oasis, and also saves just sitting in a car park somewhere :)

I agree this seems to be the most viable option so far :!:

shall i have a trip to see if there is a group costing which may work out a little cheaper :?:

And see if i can get menu for lunch, either at the gardens or organise a pub lunch :!:

I shall also try think of a route for our cruise after lunch, and do a trial run this weekend for route inspiration :!:

please state a suitable meeting time at sandbach services for all. 11am possible :?:

I think on the website, it offers a group discount for 15 or more, which i doubt we will make, unless people bring friends or family members.

11.00am would be good for most i think, i imagine its about 12 miles from Sandbach to Stapeley so should be there for 12-12.30 depending on when we leave the services ;)

Absolutely correct, 20mins-half hour at the most at a guess,A500 bypass 70mph limit.

Gather make sure people have arrived, have a chat, take some pics then off to stapeley.

How far would people like the cruise to be miles/time considering fuel prices and time constraints for people travelling home :?:

Danny

It might be best, maybe next week when we know who's going to make it for definate, to get people's mobile numbers, so they can be contacted on the day, if they are lost or just running late. That way we can wait instead of leaving without them, that extra bit longer ;)

To those who will definately be going. You can PM me with your mobile number (if you want that is) incase of any problem on the day. I will make a list but not give your number out to anyone ;)

Let's try to make this meet work and i'm sure we can all have a good time and a laugh along the way (NO speeding ;) )

Possible place for a cruise is to Delamere Forest after lunch, if people are willing to use a bit of extra fuel. Seems easy to get to (A51 A49?) and should be a good chance to get some decent pics ;)

PM'd you blue05furio

great idea, i knew Delamere forest would come into this somehow. it is very east to get to!, we need at least one venue. squirrels jumping on our cars LOL excellent picture opportunity. we will have to be as quiet as possible not to disturb walkers and rangers as well as the wildlife!!

then maybe snugburys for ice cream, i can really reccommend it, on way back to m6. just on A51

I just hope everyone agree's that this should work out fine, some good idea's ,and seems now we have a decent route/plan.

As it is so far :

11.00am Meet at Sandbach Services - Southbound (Down the M6 for those that don't know ;) )

11.30am After all meeting up and a chat / toilet break etc, set off for Stapeley Tropical Oasis/ Gardens.

12.00pm Arrive at Stapeley. Entrance price £4.45. Have lunch/snack there. (not sure how long that will take, approx 2 hours?)

2.00pm Back to cars for a cruise upto Delamere Forest (approx 45min drive?) Gather for a chat and some good photo opportunities etc. Maybe even a walk in the woods to find a grizzly ;).

After this i'm not sure, travel back to the services to have a last chat and say our goodbyes/hugs etc (hugs are optional) ;)

If everyone agress with this, then great, if not please add any idea's.

Cheers Danny.

Looks like a good timetable to me, just had a random thought of a meet up place though, Jodrell Bank, in Holmes Chapel, about a 30-45 min drive from Sandbach Services, probably not even that long.

Just a thought, but the timetable looks good.

Danny

I looked at there, but thought Jerry wouldn't want to be so close to home. ;)

say our goodbyes/hugs etc (hugs are optional) ;)

Cheers Danny.

Depends if lilgirlracer or PinkEmily are coming, or any of the other girlies you're always chatting up!! LOL

If anyone fancies coming to mine first at say 1030 we can mini cruise to Sandybach Services for 1100. PM me if you want to.

I'd come to Jodders but it's in the wrong direction!

Sounds like a great plan really. Better itinerary than the other meets where we just turn up and go "what do we do now then?". Except the camping of course... ;)

Less than three weeks till 16th Oct though! LOL

Mrs DG and Miss DG have expressed an interest in coming too, so that's too more girlies. Miss DG can give Scoubi lessons if anyone wants to learn...

I know how hard it is to arrange these meets, especially when no bugger turns up, but this one seems well organised with a good itinerary. Well done!

 Let's not even start thinking that eh! lol

I'm sure we'll get half a dozen at least :?

Seems some genuine interest, let's hope the weather don't put people off. At least the Oasis place is indoors. Good to hear your girlies (women) may be coming, give Rachel someone to chat to.

I would like to also thank Jerry for his approval, to what should and hopefully be a great day.

This will be the first meet i have been to and also helped to organise. I would also like to thank Danny for his great work and help, (keep it up!)

Dont worry boys there will be at least 3 of us :!:

PinkEmily try to come along we need a female precence at the meet, and as far as the not passing test goes im sure you will pass first time (if i can im sure you can too) the more the merrier even if you just turn up at the forest with your dad, uncle and cousins C2,

But please let us know one way or the other if you can or can't attend.

You must be a princess having a new car bought for you even before you pass as lilgirlracerc2 says! i had to buy my own before id passed my test and insure it!

see you all on the 16th
