Public Track Weekend: 15/05/2010 - 16/05/2010
It’s club day here at Shakespeare County Raceway and what better way to get your club involved in one of the best participation sports in all of motorsports - Run What Ya Brung. So let's hope you've brung enough!
Plus for every driver and rider signing up for RWYB on Sunday will automatically gain entry into the race track's popular Sunday Track Challenge. A simple time trial competition to find the quickest 4, 5, 6 and 8 cylinder category cars of the day as well as the quickest manufactured motorcycle in the Trophy Bike Dash. Who knows at the end of the day you might be going home with some goodies and an exclusive Shakespeare County Raceway Challenge Trophy for your efforts and all conducted in a safe and legal environment.
Clubs are also actively encouraged to take part in a full on quarter mile shootout with other club members of their choice. It’s the cheapest form of motorsport in the country! For further details get in touch with us on 01789 720180 or take a look at our RWYB information page.
Please note: All drivers taking part in RWYB Public Track Days are required to wear a Crash Helmet whatever times or speeds the vehicle is capable of doing over a quarter of a mile. The requirement is there for your safety. If you are competing with a motorcycle, a helmet, leathers, gloves and boots are required. No trainers of jeans allowed. So don’t forget your Driving Licence and Crash Helmet!
*All major credit cards accepted.
*Children under 16s free when accompanied by an adult.
*Free overnight camping with weekend ticket.
*All day catering and bar facilities.
*Evening entertainment
*Free Grandstands & Pit Entry.
*Showers & Toilets.
Here is a checklist from the site - They require a little more than Santa Pod Raceway so make sure you read this and take note.
Ten Item General Check List
1. It is now a requirement of Shakespeare County Raceway that you wear a crash helmet for drag racing at all events in 2010. This includes Public Track Days and Lifestyle Events.
2. Bring your drivers licence for signing on. (MOT & Insurance documents may be asked for).
3. Wear clothing that covers your arms and legs, and gloves if you are driving an open top car.
4. Windows must be closed when racing.
5. Seat Belts must be worn.
6. Motorcycle riders to wear leathers, gloves and helmet (jeans & trainers not permitted).
7. Regarding intercooler spray bars. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE not if you are drag racing! Shakespeare County Raceway cannot afford any fluids on the track surface. As you probably know, the track is treated for traction. The slightest moisture turns it into a skating rink! Even if you use the spray bar in the fire up road, there will still be drips when you get to the line. This means a clean up that eats into valuable racing time. The track policy is perfectly clear on this, any car dropping fluids will NOT be allowed to race!
8. Make sure that your motorcycle is clean and not dropping oil.
9. All motorcycles must have an adequate manufacturers or after market chain guard. Also oil & water catch cans if required.
10. Shakespeare County Raceway reserves the right to define additional rules governing the running of the event and will advise all registered entrants accordingly. Track managements decision is final in any situation or dispute.
there is a 106owners club meet there that weekend too which is where i heard about it, after going along with them to the santa pod meet a few weeks back
only problem i see with people not liking this idea is the fact you need a helemt going down the strip as fast or slow as your car may be. ive got 2 helmets that ill be taking with me, one of which ive just prdered for £50 delivered which is pretty good to be fair.
