Hulloh,
Looking at a couple of C2's tomorrow, one a Blue 54 VTS from Edinburgh, about 65k on, the other a black 04 GT, used to have private plate C2 BGT I think. Anybody on here own these? If so, how were they?
And then what's probably a fairly standard question. Sure I'll be able to tell tomorrow when I drove both side-to-side but how noticeable is the difference between the two. Added Insurance+extra cost means the VTS is about £500-£700 more. Worth it?
Coming from a 1.2 16v Clio so I think either will do the trick but will I get a bit bored of the GT? Looking for some kind of stopgap before I can afford insurance on a Clio 172/182 or something like that.
Cheers

Surprised you're saying save for a Clio on a C2 forum, am I going to be hugely disappointed by a VTS or a GT?
172 isn't really an option at the moment though, need a car now, got to do the best with the money I've got. Can't afford £1800 on insurance for a Clio nor do I want to give insurance companies that much money so it's something less powerful for the time being.
Don't really care who has made their gt/vts faster anyway, I won't be modding mine. Just looking for the main differences for those who have driven both aside from what's written on the spec sheet.

Having both a vts and a gt in the household at the minute i would deffo pick the gt any day but thats cos i dont like autos and paddle shift so gt wins plus its quicker to 60 fact lol

Does your VTS have paddles? One I'm looking at doesn't, thought that was only the VTR.

There isn't a huge diffrence in the GT/VTS at all, its only once it reaches a great speed the VTS starts to pull away.
on the downside GT has no luxeries like air con/cd player paddles on wheel (at least on the ones i saw) & no spare wheel etc.
& the VTS is prone too the inlet manifold bolts coming loose or somthing (don't think this happens on the GT) & if your saving
for a 172/182 youll be paying less insurance on a GT.

Not a huge difference sounds good to me. Air Con would be nice but I can do without, cd player thing doesn't matter, vts doesn't have the stock one in it anyway, spare wheel hasn't ever been needed before - sure if I get the GT I'll end up needing one though.
If it's close enough I'll probably get the GT, a saving of £220 on my insurance now plus a saving on the car is quite considerable. That said it might not be in great nick, sounds like it has been well cared for though.
Test driving them back to back anyway so I'm sure I can work out the differences. What's the exhaust note like on both of them? Does the GT sacrifice any sound insulation or deadening? Is it going to be noisier on the m/way?

im not sure but i dont think it has any less soundproofing

Cause ive had Both a GT and a 172.. dont think i'd go for another C2 now but i'd have my 172 back in a flash if i had the chance!
if your Saving then go for the GT..

if you are looking to do some saving mate the GT is only group 6, which wont be much more than ur current car. and the vts i think is a group 8 so if you are quite young you wil pay a fair bit more for it. and for the difference in money there aint that much difference in power. hope this helps

Good to know the GT will hold its own. Is there a definitive list of the differences anywhere? Does it get the same moveable seats, same brakes? I was very impressed with those on the VTS. Also, does the C2 get cruise control?
Absolute cheapest I can find insurance wise for both makes the GT £240 cheaper p/year to insure. Plus the GT itself will be a bit cheaper to buy.

the c2 will only have cruise control if its bin added an an optional extra at factory mate. .

What newb said the GT doesn't come with a CD player
GT = 110bhp, pretty quick, low insurance, white alloys, nice GT Grille, I've never had any major problems (yet), clutch is meant to go after 40K and mines has been fine... Oh and it has a CD player.
VTS = 125bhp, bit quick, higher insurance, few more nice little things like skirts and splitters and anything else in 'optional extras' already been put on or if you buy (which you could do for GT anyway), just standard grille and alloys are normal.
Both have the same brakes (as far as I know), GT should be cheaper, can get a GT with like 40K on the clock for about 4500-5000 now, I got mine September 2008 with 23K on the clock for 5,500 at Citroen Glasgow and they SUCK, so theres a good price estimate for ya :)
VTS depending on age will be 5000-8000 from what I've seen online, depends how recent your going, 59plate VTS will be like 10500 I reckon.

Bought the VTS in the end, GT just didn't feel as good although I think this has more to do with the comparable condition of the car rather than how different they actually are. Nice step up from a 1.2 Clio, looking forward to it.
