Going to view a car today and if it goes well will be buying it!
now heres the problem..
Car will be insured and tested but has no tax, now ive had several different views on this.. but.. Is it possible for me to pick up the car today and drive with no tax?
obviously wont have my insurance certificate today and post office's are closed so would i be able to drive it today?
Thanks!

you can ring up for it. you wont have the paper but it will be on the system
you can tax a car online but only if you do that will you be able to drive the car away.... dont drive it unless you get taxed it only takes 1 thing to happen and bye bye car and licence, or worse.

It's a case of how unlucky you are, i drove my car with a drive away insurance policy & no tax straight too the nearest post office. obviously that was my own fault if i got pulled of course :) i wouldnt drive it around without any tax till tommorow though even if you bought online.

the traffic cops have anpr cameras which automatically check every car it goes past. when you do it online they will want to make the insurance etc..

They the white cameras on the tri-pods that highway patrol use to pretend their doing speed check (fa**ys)?
will - theyre built in to most traffic vehicles these days and speed camera vans in their system. it checks with the national database inside of a couple hundreds of a second and relays to them if a car isnt mot'd taxed.... registered as stolen or scrapped etc.

Cool, just always wondered what the cameras do that the fake police (highway maintenance) use lol !
If you are driving without tax you are therefore invalidating your insurance so you can get hit on two counts.
A lot of towns have ANPR cameras now too, Chester had loads. If they spot a car without insurance/tax they leave a marker on the car on the computer and then the next time that plate is seen by a police car with anpr it gets pinged up and they'll probably pull the car whether its now got insurance/tax or not because of it then you spend most the time wondering when you'll be pulled next because of that marker.

laws are silly to be honest, i mean.. just to drive the car 15 miles on a sunday to get it home... used to be ok to drive them when they were 1st purchased and if you got stopped all they did was made sure you had tax in the next 7 days, and paid for the full month even if it was halfway through..
But nevermind.. car turned out to be a shitter :P ...now ive won something else
