Not a c2 but.......UPDATED 4/6/10

its my own motor that currently is taking funds away from the c2, and vice versa between my wages on kez and then this for myself..... Admin if this isnt in the right place please move it to it, but i only see this area for project threads at present so better sticking it here rather than general thread etc.

not to most's tastes being a van but its a cheap runabout for me and a good base for some future work to it, so lets start from the beginning!

picked the car up from the borders from a lovely couple who had spent a fortune on the car looking after it, even though they only used it just to ferry their dogs up and down for a walk every day.

soon after running it for a couple weeks, the timing belt snapped thanks to a knackered tensioner coming loose and killing the head.

got inside and started to inspect what else could be improved with it now needing some work... its time to get stuck into the rust and tart it up a bit.

van partially stripped, time to get it next door to the garage side of the workshop, and get the engine checked out.

cam had broke into 3 parts, bent all the valves, took a chunk out of one of the pistons and completely trashed itself... no point rebuilding this so it was robbed of what it could have been (starter,alternator, box, sump and couple other bits) and then scrapped.

new engine from the local scrappies turned out to be a bargain!

brand new clutch, clutch arm and cable, starter and alternator, engine had done 180k but had full ford service history in the van's logbook! bargain at £120 for that and the box! :top:

new engine fitted, time to crack on with the bits i need.

take one fiesta bonnet at £25 with small repair needed

got some original Fiesta XR-V decals for the boot, should go nicely with it and something original.

ok after fluffing about changing different colours on the one bonnet, painting the car, not happy, seeing repairs etc still needing done..... back to the drawing board recently, so heres how it was sitting recently with some more things done to it, a lot of back to metal area's for repairs and built up using Mipa fine paste filler, bit more nicer finish than cataloy and easier on small dings etc.

roof got some as someone had 3 bolt holes in the roof from where a light must have been before (think its an ex bt or water board van cant be sure)

airal in that picture is a secondary one that will be coming out eventually as well, dont like it on the roof and no need for it, so will sort that over time too.

picked up seats today so theyre ready to be bolted/welded onto the fiesta runners and given a good clean

started on rear arches as well, only took one pic but both rear arches are now ready for paint bar a couple small imperfections, even though theyre under the kit i want them pretty much spot on.

found a small hole under the door seal, so flappered that to bare metal and then fibre filled that up today and repaired that just before i went home, and fibrefilled some of the other parts once i hit them with the flapper disc and etch primered them for corrosion protection, rusty sills no more!

some bits like the roof arial im not happy about, but what can i do... welders broke at work and i aint tigersealing and cataloying that up! lol

will leave it in and maybe incorporate it with something else, or wait and cut the coont to size and have the hole welded at another date.

on a humourous note, the boss thought that the engine rebuild went so well... he did his own "mind controlled" RR on the van and came up with these figures... i think he's lying i could have got another 15% on top of the torque!

paint this time around is a white basecoat with HOK Gemini 0006 flip paint topcoat which has more or less turned it into a metalflake paintjob. subtley done you dont notice it until you see it outside in certain light conditions, but it looks pretty good. kit will be painted monday or tuesday as im away to autosport so its going to be a big bloody hour week tomorrow to get the car ready for the first meet! it better bloody make it! :oops: lol

the van will NEVER be a minter ive never planned to have it like that as a daily driver its hopeless and with the age of the car. however things can be improved on the paintjob outside, not this year though, if i still have it next year or plan to then it will be done again, if not then i will hopefully have an XR2i 16v or RS1800i hopefully!

cheers folks, more updates tomorrow while im at work, going to be a hectic week by the looks of it now!

plate in the floor to be sorted out as i found a whole half the size of a 5p piece, so i'll cut that out and plate a bit in to replace it.... and a full lower 18c valance to be put on as well as it was rotten, towbar has been cut off as i wont be towing anything. leather seats measured up, still to decide wether to use them or 88 spec recaro's from a s2 rs turbo... either set i dont use will be up for sale.

also got the alloys that are seen on the car on the rear to be sold off as im getting other 16's not as wide that wont catch on the strut at all.

woodlining in the rear was removed and false floor taken out to inspect the car, so far so good apart from 2 bits of welding and some good cleaning required! lol

just ordered some morette headlights for the van now, and will have 16" mondeo Si alloys being delivered from a mate who im repairing his XR2i 16v car with, they'll be sprayed ford charcoal grey (almost gun-metal if not slightly darker)

need to source lowering springs next, probably go down 45mm on this, and clear rears brand new from the fiesta centre uk. already sourced a new exhaust backbox to be welded onto the original exhaust system purely for looks... should be sorted exterior wise by the end of the month and ready for an mot by end of april when my insurance is due also

guy up here breaking a fiesta turbo so getting full FRST interior, brakes & calipers, rooflining, interior plastics and steering wheel from the guy, might take some more when i get things sorted out selling the escort turbo stuff off.

well its been a while with this one, dunno if anyone remembers it or not but.......................PROGRESS!!!!!!!!!

ive put a set of WIIIDE wheels on it today, brand new tyres and 7x13's.... £60 all in, not bad bargain!

got the fiesta turbo kit finally put on and just to touch it up again and paint it........ and fit the new dash and half leather recaro rs turbo seats, my full leathers have made their way into a toyota hilux now!

as said in another forum, someone tried to break into the car so my handles been screwed and doesnt work, so didnt go for mot, and also battery was nicked the pikey f**ks!

good news is, this is the following progress since trying to source new parts and also having to do a MAJOR offensive on the c2's brakes today to stop incessant noises and clicking and also an oil change and get it prepper for the NS rear 1/4 and rear bumper to be painted and my esquiss spoiler to go on too....... so its been a busy weekend so far!

next wee mini project to keep me busy is a 5 door ax, if anyone has a Saxo VTR engine lying about, some 106 rallye wheels, condition not important so long as theyre straight... and shit loads of stickers to put on the roof... give me a shout please.

this builds came to an end... but the next one.... should fit in with the chevrons hopefully quite nicely :)

I love Fiestas. I've always been able to sell Fiestas without trying.

When I worked at the garage we always used them as courtesy cars, which means I always took a Fiesta home.
