Only my second post and I'm on the want already!

I'm after a bit of advice from those in the know. Essentially I've been offered a C2 VTR 1.4 as a company car, from what I can gather the lease company my employer uses have offered up an excellent deal, but only on a C2.

Just wondering what they are like. Thought I'd get in touch with a local dealer for a test drive but also hoped I could rely on some words of wisdom from members on here who either own or have driven one.

Drive an Almeira at the minute on a 02 plate so a step up really isn't that difficult to be honest. Don't do huge miles so won't be spending hours up and down a motorway in it, just to and from home and out and about with work.

It's difficult to get an accurate idea from either the main Citroen site (who obviously say they are great) or from other motoring sites/magazines that have done reviews of exactly what they are like to live with day to day.

Anyway, to stop rambling and to sum up, any views on equipment, economy, handling, power plus anything else you'd like to add would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I assume as its the 1.4 VTR Then its the HDi Deisel model?

All in all the deisel models are soild, as with most deisels. As with all C2 ull have a comfortable ride and the sharp handling isnt too bad. Power, well it is only a 1.4 D Essentially but from what you will be using it for, thats more than enough.

Official figures show 0-60 in 13.2 Seconds, with its 70BHP And 111ft/lb torque. £32 to fill the tank and Figurativly speaking that means over 700 miles per tank of fuel, as it returns a very nice 65 MPG

All in all ull be riding around in one hot hatch.

God i ramble on and to be honest i dont even know if thats what you wanted to know

Thanks for the reply & info Renn, cheers.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure if it's petrol or diesel. Note I recieved never mentioned & I've never had the chance to speak to the partner who is dealing with it to find out. I assumed it woild be petrol as the main Citroen site mentions a VTR 1.4 8V 75bhp model as well as the diesel. I'll be sure to ask though.

Ull be best off getting the dirty D Lol .. Well there not even dirty lol some of the cheapest road tax comes from a deisel lol.

If they happen to have the F1 style gear box, that will be fun for you .. For about a week lol, not many people like the paddles but i love them :P

Yea iv never driven it on auto yet, i left it on by accident and got crazy forward lurk lol. But at roundabouts you either have to just stop and start again or drop to 2nd really early then drive up to it in 2nd. I have rolled out by accident a few times not thinking and been stuck not moving in the middle of the roundabout lol :(

I took delivery of C2 1.4Hdi Vtr just before xmas, its brand spanking new and alot of fun :) I getting superb mpg, suprised by the handling being better than i thought it would be and the build quality is better than previous generations of citroen.

I would not look at the 1.4 petrol ~ HDi diesel is the way to go.............

Paddles rock, especially after you stick an aftermarket exhaust on and get that downshift blip going ! :D

Thanks to all for their responses to my original post.

Pleased to say car has been ordered. It is the petrol version, although I did my best to argue the diesel case, but to no avail. . . . . . .'Well we've got a deal on the petrol version, the recession etc etc'

Can't really argue to be fair, seeing as all I'll have to do is supply the petrol. Should arrive in 10-14 days. In which time I can rid my life of the 'Jap - Mackem' contraption currently sitting outside my window.
