I decided to take my viper off and stick my old powertec SL1 induction kit back on. I forgot how loud open kits were, it sounds awsome!!
But now i dont know if i should leave the open kit on for the noise or put the viper back on for the preformance!!?? :?

As madmat said, did u notice a loss in power putting the open filter back on? if not then keep the open filter on

Yeh i think the car was more responsive with the viper on, im just going to miss the noise :(
if you have an open filter make the cold air feed as good as possible to ensure sufficent air intake.

Well an induction kit is not gonna give you much in performance. It just helps with performance if you add 4-1 manifold and full exhurst system which then only gives you 10bhp but also depends on exhurst but then you might only get an extra 2bhp more. So for performance stand alone induction kit nope noise yep but no point might as well put the full system with it. :D

When i have my older piper cross on, the car lost lots of power at low speed, but on the mw, it has hardly any diffrence, to normal, just noise when u booted it a bit ;)
Ill keep stock air box for now, maybe put a k and n in it :)

deffo an open kit... my sounds awesome, not very much a performance gainer, but raised top speed from 206 km/h to 211 km/h....
Here is the vid, hopefully it works, sory for the quality, was taken with my poor motorola l6

I've fooled around enough with intakes to notice that because of the emission regulation like EGR etc. in most modern cars with stock ECU more air is actually bad for performance :) I'd like to see some dyno charts from those people who think their performance has increased.
On one car I noticed that fitting free flow intake I was one whole second slower from 60-120kmh. It was getting more air allright so it decided to up the exhaust recirculation. My butt dyno thought the car responded better to gas pedal and the top end was livelier but the clock told me the truth ;)
Not saying the VTS can't benefit from better intake (haven't tested yet) but just saying that in a modern car the ECU decides how much power you get and just making the intake flow better may not automatically do any good.
The manufacturer has also designed the intake to certain form for a reason. For example in one of my previous cars there was a restriction at the intake (actually it was there to even the turbulence) I removed just to find out that by time the gas response actually got worse although the car sounded more powerful which it wasn't. Everything went back to normal after refitting the part I had removed.
Anyway if you get sportier induction noise and the car doesn't lose power I think intake kit is ok :)
