yellow light of death

has anyone had the 'yellow light of death' on their ps3?
it happens when it overheats and doesnt allow the ps3 to turn, mine has it now
if anyones had it how much did you pay for it repairing?

and xbox 360 users dont say 'you should have bought a xbox' as they get the exact same problem but its called the red ring of death!

Should be under warranty?

Xbox did my RROD under warranty and sent me 1 months XBL for the hassle.

The Hard drive went on my ps3 god knows y, apparently common fault. it as 2 weeks out of warranty, was gutted so after a while on the phone i had to pay £99 to fix it and got 2 years warranty on the new bits. not sure if this has anything to do with the yellow light of death but its almost guarenteed to be out of warranty, its whats known as sods law im afraid.

mine did it once when it stalled. Left it 5 minutes and it was fine :P .

iv had it twice, luckally i got the 3 year extended warrenty. 1st time they took it away and repaired it. it lasted about 2 hours then crashed again. they gave me £350 worth of game credit. so i got a slim ps3 with 2 games for £250 and then put the rest to use on some more games.

they are all going wrong now, so much for being more stable than the xbox, my last PS3 got the yellow light, and at the same time my cousins Blu-ray drive stopped working.. both just out of warranty, we sold him the bluray drive for £70 and sold the Ps3 for spares for £100, so we went and bought a standalone Blu-ray player and another 360 :P
