Hi Everyone,
Not long had my 05 reg 1.4D, but very happy with it so far. :D
One of the bulbs is burnt out behind the heater controls. :( Can't see any screws to remove this bit of trim. Anyone know how to get at these bulbs please ? :?
Thank you.
:)
Welcome to C2Club,
Have you managed to take the heater control unit out of the centre console yet?
If I manage to do mine tomorrow I'll pop a little guide up.

Hi Guys ,
I haven't had chance to have a go at it yet - maybe the weekend. Just a little reluctant to have a go though. The last time I tried to change a dash bulb was on my Fiat Coupe a couple of years ago and i made a real pig's ear of it! :(
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

heh half of mine went, asked someone to take a look. Changed the blub and it still didn't work :( .
how do you take it out?
Rhys
You need to remove the Storage Tray & Your HU from the dash to gove you access to the top of the Heater Control Unit.
I think there are 2 Screws at the top. (I keep thinking there is 2 at the bottom, or one somewhere else, but can't remember)
Assuming you dont have the Digital Controls, you should have 3 cables behind the controls, one behind each dial. You will also have an electronic plug connector IIRC.
Take damn good note of how the cables attach to the dials, if you cant put them back properly, which is difficult enough, your dials wont turn properly. Mine didn't turn fully till the day I sold it!
I think once the screws are undone, It needed an allmighty thump to fall out, so dont be scared to kill it
PS - If someone gives this a shot, would be great if they could take some pics!
whats the electronic connector for bulbs etc is it? is there anyway of fitting climate control panel?
Cheers
Rhys

Hello everyone!
Half of the lights behind my heating controls are out, so i took it to my local Citroen Dealer/Service Center and they would charge 60 Euros to change the bulb. (Geez!)
Is there really no easier/cheaper way to do this, for a novice like me? :P
(Has someone documented this with pictures?)
Greetings from cold Finland, where my C2 is still alive even if its -30C outside atm! :D

its cliped in ether side, i put a very small screw driver down to realease the clips, (with a towel covering the plasic to it doesnt damadge it)
then a gentle pull will release it.
also see the "Guide request" post for a quick guide of removing/replacing the heater dials

You need to remove the Storage Tray & Your HU from the dash to give you access to the top of the Heater Control Unit.
I've been working on mine today. But 'poor light stopped play' (cricketing term for the non-English members).
Yes, you do have to start by removing the CD/radio head unit, using the little rods.
Then remove the storage tray underneath. You will need to wiggle it and pull hard, maybe use a flat-bit screwdriver for a bit of gentle leverage.
After this, the trim which surrounds the CD/radio head unit, storage tray and heater control panel needs to be removed.
There are some fixings which make this tricky. I'll try to take some photos tomorrow. Some are hidden: a mirror and LED torch were helpful in discovering them.
Next you'll need the correct tool to remove two fixings for the heater control panel.
You should be able to rotate it enough to see the rear of the fixing for the failed bulb.
Using some thin-nosed pliers, rotate the bulb-carrier to remove from its housing.
Remove the bulb from the bulb-carrier by pulling.
Replace the bulb in the bulb-carrier holding with a tissue, thin cloth or anything to prevent the moisture from your hands damaging the quartz.
Re-assemble by doing everything above in reverse order. (Well, hopefully, you know what I mean!)
I am hoping to finish the job tomorrow, Mon 15 Nov 2010, in decent daylight. I intend to take some photographs as I re-assemble and maybe create a downloadable, printable pdf guide.
