Austin Montego Vanden Plas 2.0 EFi Auto

Nearly bankrupted me, got it given, sold it for a profit (sort of) and loved it for the entire time I had it. It broke my heart selling it.

Blimey, haven't seen a Montego in years. A mate of mine when i first met him in 1996 had a white montego :)

I owned this one until about April this year. Although, it'd been off the road for some time! I loved it. Although, 22mpg at best....

I had a white Montego Estate as a hire car when I was about 20 !

I loved it - considering I was driving a 1983 MKI Astra at the time !

It had softer springs than the C2, which makes it ACE. 8 INCHES of suspension travel.

Haha, what a bag of sh!t. Sorry :P . I know you treasure it dear to your heart... got to love the chrome mirrors though...very bling lol.

I tell you what Greg, it went. It had lasted for 17 years or so when I got it, I drove it EVERYWHERE in D1 and it never broke.

I admit that it's the cleanest and best condition Montego i've seen since they were driven from the showroom....so you certainly looked after it well. Does it have water jets for it's lights? Did everything work on it? :P . What was the engine in one of those?


EDIT: Nevermind i'm blind, just noticed it was 2.0L at the top :P

Washer jets on the headlamps, four electric windows, electric mirrors, electric sunroof, electric central locking (not vacuum) full leather interior, real* walnut door trims, fibre optic stalks (you can see in the dash pic), butler key (didn't open the glove box or boot), alloys, stainless steel mirror caps and grille plate.

Oh, and a 2.0 Fuel injected O-Series engine. 50,000 miles in all that time. 21 years old by the time I sold it in March, and a Filofax of service history.

I took it off the road for ages, and lost interest in it. I had a couple of Astras, and the use of numerous other stuff, so I sold it after I bought the C2 in March, because it was just sitting about clogging up the parking area. By the time I sold it it was 18 months out of tax and MOT, and I wanted something new, reliable*, cheap to run and stylish.

*It never broke down, but bits broke.
