What do you think???

personally i think its a big BIG improvment on old ones, and if these performance stats are correct then the VTS will be left for dead!!!

The Corsa VXR will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo engine, and performance is expected to be in the region of 6.0sec to 60mph with a top speed close to 150mph. As with the raunchiest Astra, the Corsa VXR will be available with switchable damping; the rest of its dynamic package is also suitably upgraded, as are its styling details.

imagine the cost though, you wouldnt get one of those for 9k like a VTS

10-11-2006, 02:01 PM
its prob going to be a lot of money but personally i like it.

spooky_fish
10-11-2006, 02:03 PM
the web site says they dont have a price yet but they are hopoing to undercut a clio sport, so they estimated at around £15k...

still a lot for a corsa aint it!

10-11-2006, 02:04 PM
best wait a few years till the prices have dropped.

Sag

It will also be a shedload quicker than the VTS :D

10-11-2006, 02:08 PM
indeed it would. as it would be targeted at a younger age group in my opinion the insurance is most likely to be double that of the VTS.

spooky_fish
10-11-2006, 02:08 PM
0-60 in 6sec is hard to beleive but it would be great to see!

10-11-2006, 02:09 PM
it certainly looks like it would do that sort of figure. maybe closer to 7 sec's though and 140 mph top speed?

spooky_fish
10-11-2006, 02:12 PM
yeh i think that too.. plus is a 1.6... i thought they where gonna stick with the SRI 1.8, or even put in a 2.0

saying that if a cooper s can do it with a 1.6??

10-11-2006, 02:14 PM
indeed. not down to the engine size that much its how much power you can get from it and how well you put it through the front wheels i suppose.

It looks quite nice, but it's a Vauxhall, and we all know this means it'll handle like a carrier bag full of porridge.

spooky_fish
10-11-2006, 02:15 PM
yeh i guess the bigger the engine the more weight, the harder the car has to work etc....

ellis
10-11-2006, 02:17 PM
looks just like a bloody astra but i wouldn't say no lol.

regards
ellis

10-11-2006, 02:17 PM
i have driven the Astra VXR here and it does go and handle very well. will have to wait until the motoring press get their hands on it.

spooky_fish
10-11-2006, 02:24 PM
the astra should have been a 4x4... would of been much better

Fryer
10-11-2006, 02:49 PM
um not sure about it. not a bad colour suits that car but not really sure because of the stick corsa's get e.g sxi club etc. plus who'd get one because 18-19 year olds wont afford the insurance and like 30year old wont get one so there's not much of an age range for them

dripdrop
10-11-2006, 03:13 PM
i think it looks ok but i still prefer the C2

Rossington
10-11-2006, 03:22 PM
dreadful....just looks like a big big mistake....CORSA C lives on past this heap!

10-11-2006, 03:34 PM
yeh the Astra has a lot of torque steer and i can only assume the corsa will be the same.

10-11-2006, 03:37 PM
I like it. How many bhp? 150-160 ish?

10-11-2006, 03:40 PM

Pacey
10-11-2006, 05:12 PM
Love it! Seeing as the new Clio 197 is a pile of poo, this thing looks excellent (on paper).

needs to be alot cheaper than £15000 to sell really. i mean you could buy the whole Citroen range for that! :P

GregorVTS
10-11-2006, 11:22 PM
if they've sorted out the handling problems that the whole corsa range has had since its conception i'd take one.

looks like a small astra sport hatch, which is a lovely lookin car!

Richie_j
11-11-2006, 12:00 AM
Front and rear is sex. The place where the back doors should be looks funny tho.
Also, needs to be £12k max. Anything more, and your looking at 2nd hand evo money, and guess what i would choose.
And even then, you got the feista ST, the c2 vt*, and the clio to compete against. Or then you got others like the mazda 3r, or stuff like that.

Carlosjpt
11-11-2006, 04:51 AM
i´d tke one...

Pacey
11-11-2006, 07:22 AM
Come on guys! It's never going to be £12K, the hot hatch market has moved on in price and performance term now, the days of bargain hatches have gone for good. The new Clio is £16K so the Corsa will be priced around that. And please don't compare the C2 and the Corsa one is a supermini the other is a small hatch, it's like comparing a touring car and a DTM car, unfair and pointless.

InSaNe
11-11-2006, 05:48 PM
love it, looks great, i think this corsa was released to compete with the top end of the hot hatch range, eg.. the R32 and the clio 197. and looks better than both. Im glad the went with a 1600cc engine, anything larger and your looking at understear problems like the astra vxr. and imagine the tuning oppertunity with it being a forced induction engine, all you have to do is look back at what could be done with a fiesta 1600 rs turbo, now imagine that with 200hp as standard, i can see an easy 300hp with not alot of work. and imagine that front bumper with a huge front mount cooler, mmmm, im off to gimmiealoan.com :D

went having a look at the new corsa today to replace my C2
will not be having one!!
dont look all that bad but i prefer the looks of the C2
one of the guys at Vauxhall was taking it home for the night to test it, he wasnt in it long before he came back and said 'there is no way im taking that home, will stick with mine'!.
it says a lot when even the guys at Vauxhall dont like it!

I went to have a look at the new corsa as I had a corsa c befoe my astra.

The rear is cute, but the front looks like a squashed Astra. I'm not actually sure if it was intended to look cute, but that was the result!

I think it looks great. They reckon its gonna be under 15k. I would have one. I reckon it looks a lot better than the 197 Clio. That's its only competion really.

Went and saw the new Corsa here in Greece in a car event. To be honest, and having driven the new Astra, the Corsa looks ugly. Having said that, i wouldn't mind the engine if it's anything like the Astra OPC model. (probs VXR for the UK, OPC for the mainland). 2.0l, 245bhp  and it sounds great on the road..

The corsa still looks shite imo. :)

I hated the astra on a test drive, before i made final decision on the C4, it looks ok but if the drives like the astra no thanks.

Loving the new Corsa VXR but I wouldnt buy one new it will lose alot of value and pretty quick, its alot of motor though for £16K, and it's not exactly slow either :o

Based on my experiences with the Meriva I'd say this is likely the fastest small hot hatch at the moment. The new GM 1.6 turbo delivers amazing performance, just keeps pulling form idle to red line with virtually no lag..

Dont like it at all now if they put the workings of the vxr in the corsa c give it a bit of a flairy kit would look awesome and would definitly sign myself up for one.

im sure its a great car, but when your in the pub and a guy (or girl) asks you what you drive...enough said! Would rather have the Clio but thats purely based on looks and what ive heard about them both, havent driven either so i cant really pass judgement

yeah i saw that, the clio handled so much better meaning he was able to floor it all the time.

Yeah clio clearly handles better. You could see it from the video, I don't know if Corsa is actually heavier but it did look like that.. I believe another reason why he couldn't floor it all the time was the power delivery. The boost builds up very quickly in the 1.6 turbo lump which means you break traction if you max the acc too soon out of a corner. So it really is a bit on/off when driving aggressively.

In everyday driving the Corsa might be a bit more comfortable though, you have to rev the Clio to get the same performance in straights and being 1.6litre it should consume a bit less too. Still I think I'd have the Clio ;)

willfurio
29-05-2007, 07:03 PM
Yeah as alot of people said, i wouldnt say no, but its a corsa and no amount of power or sporty styling could escape that lol
