Offical C2 Club Camping Meet 09 - Hollows Farm 21-23 Aug

Following on from the previous thread I have spoke to Nathan and hes all good for me to make this offical.

The Date:- 21-23 August 2009

The Venue:- Hollows Farm www.hollowsfarm.co.uk

Grange in Borrowdale
Keswick
Cumbria

Activities:- Days:- Walking, Bouldering (If your brave), Mine Exploring I can take the lead on all of these if need be, then there are other tihngs such as sailing if you fancy but they can become expensive quickly
Evening:- BBQ, Drinks (obviously we are representing the club so don't want to give it a bad name so keep it undert control.)

I have spoken to the camp site and they said they dont take bookings for regular people its just generally schools but dont see a problem getting on that weekend. Also the camp is no wood burning its all on charcoal which obviously aint a problem. They have had a car club previously who were loud and unruley just wanted to blast music and splin the cars up but obviously I have said we are nothing like that.

Camping Tarrif is £6pppn.

The campsite is obviously equiped with Toilets and lovely hot power showers and is right at the foot of the hills and next to the river that flows to Derwent Water.

The only thing to think about is if you are on coilovers raise them a little bit and if you are on springs take it slow there is about 100m of gravel but nothing to serious.

Tents are obviously cheap enough you can pick one up from tesco for £20 and it will last you more than the one meet. Anyone who still needs on though get in touch as I will have a 4 a 2 and a 1 man tent spare. Also anyone who is a bit uncertain dont worry I (along with others) will be happy to help you put up/take down the tent.

Cooking will be on a sort yourself basis but Im sure there will be BBQ shares but make sure you bring some of your own food, disposible BBQ's, plates etc.

Lets see if we can inject some club spirit back into the club for 09 and make this meet a big one!!

Ha not mad Chambers. Just some people can bored really easily. I could find hundreds of things to do up there. Shame no1 has a speed boat. Im quite a pro at Wakeboarding from my days at Windermere!

Its one of those things you should just say yes too. Why not car share with some people and put in for petrol? I couldnt go to FCS and was gutted so not missing any other Official C2 meets. Should be a right laugh.
Chambers I know exactly what you mean, but not going for Midnight missions up massive hills though, done that before when a bit trashed and rolled right the way down it. Bad Times!

lol bad times, nah mate thats good times, well there are plenty of good walks round that way which give rewarding views over the lakes and hills etc also been checking out bouldering routes close by (may need to get a new mat) and mines that look interesting if people are interested and obviously there are good driving routes around close by. All in all I recon the weekend will fly as last weekend did.

I'm still considering it, I don't know if I'm allowed two lots of time off in August. I'll have to fiddle loads of flexi time to make sure. I'd love to take the C2, but I may end up in some scrappage fodder if I come.

maybe :D there is actually a small car show at penrith on the sunday the 23rd its about 30 mins away from keswick,

its a classic car show, but also has a section for modern modified, club stands, and sports cars, i will most likely be entering my car for the modified comp :D see if i get best in cumbria :wink: lol lost to a scooby last year :x

You dont need to book Nath, the only take bookings for Duke of Edinburgh and Schools but said there should be no problems with us getting on

I did indeed, and that what I got told, as mentioned they said they had a car club there prev who just wanted to blast music and tear up the grass so we got to be sensible

I was back at the campsite for the weekend just gone and was still nice albeit a little busier but still plenty of space. Had a quick walk (8hrs) which needless to say I wont be going on again soon as it ended up coming down a stone heap (600m up the side of a hill/mountain whatever you want to call it down to whatever the camp is at lake level) which were constantly sliding away in the rain, nice.

since no one has confirmed that they are deffo going still and the people who have have all pretty much dropped out, how would people like to go to a safari park. i know one got organised ages ago at west midlands safari [ark and from the pics ive looked at it looked mint. so if anyone likes the idea of going to a safari park for a day pm me and ill sort out a meet. i dont really know many good safari parks in which you drive your car through the monkeys etc. so ill be open to suggestions.

knowsley has a monkey section but you can by-pass it and look at them from the other side of the fence if you are bothered about your car

the midlands one is too far for me to travel anyway. there is also longleat but thats even further. even that knowlsey is like 3 hours away from where i live. pitty that loads of people dropped out of camping

WMSP was an absolutely fantastic day, would happily get back down there if it was planned for a month or 2's time

Reasons for me dorpping out of camping would have been aparent when I turned up with Kathryne and not Helen anymore lol

just drove back. we went for a meal after the meet and then made our way home

yep us north east lot drove down early on, was well worth it though, one of the best meet I have been to and it was pretty country central (well not so much for scotland) and because it was an actual full on activity it attracted people from all over
