BOOKED! National meet & camping weekend 6/7 August!!

Hello all

Right I've been off to this site this morning and it's ideal for us. They've got availability for the weekend 6th and 7th August. They were very receptive to us (disappointed 'cos they thought we were a 2CV club haha!) and they gave me lots of advice.

Here's the plan:

The campsite has got fishing lakes (small charge), a kid's adventure playground and animal farm (small charge), a cafe, shop, and decent toilets and showers. Nearby are villages with pubs and a Co-op.

They said they'd rope off a section for us and we could erect gazebos (if anyone's got one?) and they would lay on electrics for us to run up to two fridges/coolers etc.

Costs

The charges are £7 per one person tent or £10 per tent with 2 people and 1 car per night. Extra £1 for additional adult/child per unit. Extra £3 per night for electrics. Extra vehicles "by arrangement". Extra £1 per gazebo.

Rules

I'll tell you the site rules now so you know what to expect:

1 5mph speed limit
2 Cars only to be driven by people with full licence and insurance
3 All children to be supervised at all times
4 NO LOUD MUSIC
5 Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times
6 No ball games or kites around caravans

What do I do now?

I've got to make a commitment to the site that we're coming, and give them an idea of numbers. So what you need to do now is tell me if you're coming, and how many in your party, do you have a tent, fridge, gazebo etc.

If you're coming I'd like some money from you to show your commitment. I would suggest if we all pay £11 per night per unit now, that should cover the camping fee and contribute towards any extra charges like electricity, gazebos, extra cars etc.

Cancellation

If the event is cancelled or you cancel up to a fortnight before then you'll get your deposit back. If you don't turn up, or cancel in the last fortnight, you forfeit your deposit. I hope you think that's fair. I don't want to get exposed to having to pay for you if you don't turn up.

I know it's all a bit formal and serious but that reflects the amount of organising that's required. I want you to come and have a great weekend, meet some friends, and have a few beers and a laugh and enjoy yourself.

Suggestions for what we can do when we're there also welcomed!

I'll be coming along, most probably just me. Assuming its a turn up Saturday afternoon, socialise in the evening, few drinks perhaps? Then Sleep Saturday night, go for a cruise as a Club druing the day with a similar setup to the previous meets then disperse for home on the Sunday afternoon?

Good job I popped on the site(Don't normaly get round to on weekend,) count me and the future ms's in, with one car, and one 3 person tent (it's not much bigger than a three, so don't worry the campsite bwt space, lol.)

Mite have sum rims to show off (*fingers crossed*) n all.

Suggestions o' stuff to do;

Mmmmmmm, spose we need to know a local with beer, food, a pool table, and plenty o parking?

Foods not a prob though, got me a small one-hob cooker, only does for 2 peeps though, so no barbecue I'm afraid, lol.

There's a possible idea, someone could bring a barbie-q, n some beer, make our own entertainment.

Apart from not liking music?, most sites say yes, not too loud, and off at 10?

I'm a little excited, can you tell, lol. Must be the combo of cars, beer, n food!

**Well behaved dogs are welcome (at no charge) as long as they are kept on leads at all times. Barbeques are permitted if sensible precautions are taken and they are not placed directly on the grass. No loud music please.**

I would love to come to this meet. I unfortunately havent made it to one yet as my work involves me to work most weekends. Hopefully it will work out that i am not working the sunday, which means if i am i should be able to come, would be leaving straight from work on the saturday though, however it sounds good so should be worth it!

DG i should know within the next week or two, whether i am working or not so please hang tight and you should have another two with tent and car, HOPEFULLY!!

Thank goodness for modular rear seats but they won't tip forward unless the one in front is right up to the dashboard. Yeah right!

Roofbox? Nah can't get the new roofbars cheap enough. 2 cars? Nah.

Maybe a trial pack-up will be required...

if you fold one seat flat and dont tip it forward it should be alright, ill be able to put both my seats down, but then wont have as much as some

Bad news - forecast is still rubbish.

Good news - put the tent up today and got the sleeping bags out and they're all ok. No holes, damp patches, or smelly bits.

Still got to plan a route for the cruise(s)....

Going to look to buying our tent today!! (this better not b the last c2 camping weekend, i want some use out of it)!!!

Our numbers have been minimised to just 3 not 5!! (my mum having eldest 2 for a few days!!) Still bringing smallest tho.

bad news everyone.... i've had a run in with a pheasant and a bush....

not as happy chappy. Car's in with Jacksons now getting worked on. Didnt look good.... so wont be able to make it in my C2. Might be able to make it in my courtesy car though, funds permitting. Somehow managed to get a Ford Fiest Zietec Sport! tis a lot of fun... just makes me want the VTS more and more!

will keep you posted on how car goes and that and whether i can make it.

I heard on the news there were water shortages all over the country, from Hertfordshire to Cheshire, from Doncaster to Lincolnshire.
