FCS 2007

Just an update on FCS 2007 for those interested. I shall give you more information as and when i recieve it.

Hope you are well. We are in the middle of planning French Car Show 2007 and I am frequently asked what’s what with the 2007 Show. As a result I have created a blog as temporary filler until the website goes live in the new year.

As mentioned before, back in July we had a meeting with the largest 14 clubs who attended French Car Show and there was some really good suggestions. The good points and bag points of 2006 were discussed and as we are a club show we can all move forward and make 2007 better. Big news just now is Adrian Flux is back on board as lead sponsor and we are in discussion with another big international company so already we have more scope to improve on last year.



We have been very much limited in the past with price which as been set at £10 since 2001. Our seventh show we may have a modest rise to £12.50 for advanced sales which will give us the scope to provide what you all asked for, Working within a tight budget is very very hard and we couldn’t provide everything we wanted to so with the increase coupled with a better show it will be proven still to be best value. Our sponsorship is very helpful but we are not receiving £100’000 like shows such as Donny etc.



Many of you don’t know how close we were to cancelling the show last year as much of the grounds were waterlogged hence the reason we had to stretch it out on concrete rather than compressing it more using the grass. Sunday was the only dry day over 2 week period.



We have a whole new layout for 2007 taking into account the good from 2006 and previous years with a better mix. The show will never be spread over a mile one strip again.



Some points raised at our meeting with some updates….



1. Allow people to leave tickets on the gate for friends etc.
2. Improve signage to the venue and within the venue (50 signs were erected in 06 but we will do more)
3. Work towards providing feature entertainment such as stunt team. Please be aware that this may need to be funded by higher ticker prices.
4. Improve showground and VIP catering. Provide higher quality at reasonable cost (compared to other shows.) (we did use same caterer as Trax & Donny)
5. Ensure that all show goers are provided with quality information regarding the timing and location of all attractions. (programs failed to turn up in 06 – grrr)
6. Endeavour to provide a grandstand for track spectators. (this is confirmed)
7. Ensure that the VIP area is within main showground arena if it is provided in 2007 (no VIP in 2007)
8. Cost up the provision of a water supply to the showground and if economical provide one. Otherwise people will need to go to the control tower for water.
9. Try to find a larger variety of cars offering track rides to people.
10. Ensure that all FCS staff wear ID badges, FCS hi-viz or uniforms to allow easy identification of staff. (were issues with them in 06, will ensure they wear them in 07)
11. Provide more toilets. (we trebled toilets from 05 to 06 but will add even more for 07)
12. Ensure a plentiful supply of litter bins and ask club leaders to place them in prominent easy to access locations.
13. Seek out traders who supply tools and other similar equipment for people to purchase on the day.
14. Provide an autojumble space for private individuals to sell of second hand components.
15. Provide a bouncy castle or similar entertainment for younger visitors.
16. Provide a camp site that all show goers can use and enjoy. (looking promising)

Its gotta be FCS! As a french car club this is a MUST!
05 admiteddly was alot better than 06 as a show (not for me hehe) but 07 promises to be even better than 05 as alot of points have been taken on board and the organisers tried something different, which they were completely in there right to...but it didnt work...So I have all faith in 07 being a great show.

Here's another update for you all about next years FCS2007

I recieved this e-mail this morning...

Hi there

Thanks for your enquiry regards French Car Show 2007, in some cases been slow to react and I apologise for this but I have been waiting for certain key information to be confirmed.

French Car Show 2007 will go ahead in 2007 but we cannot 100% confirm the date for a few weeks yet and in any case it will be cast in stone this time next month.

Provisionally we have booked Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground for 27/28th May 2007 and we have new attractions including a Live Action Arena with Paul Swift Stunt Show (new) and 5th Gears Terry Grant stunt Show (new), 2.1 mile circuit and ¼ mile sprints. We have secured improved sponsorship for 2007 with Adrian Flux the UK ’s largest Independent Insurer taking the lead sponsor again for the 7th year and have a big name talking to us just now. Support for FCS has never been better.

Due to a legal challenge over noise at Bruntingthrope by the local authorities we are speaking to Rockingham, Silverstone and Elvington for an alternative venue should we have to move. This will be resolved next month and we can make our formal announcements.

Thanks for standing by us, expressing interest so early and we look forward to putting on a great show.

Ashley - I dont think C2C has enough show experience and enough track ready cars to book a session yet but with C2's becomming more popular and more people drifting to performance it may be worth looking into it in the next couple of years.

In the past there has been no great call for track time for us, however, times are changeing.
Please please please bear in mind this is only our SECOND show ever, so we need ALL of YOUR support to make it work, and make it fun.

You buy your tickets from their site anyway mate, if you want to go on the stand just quote c2club, it costs no extra to go on the stand, so you may as well quote the club anyway, then you can make up your mind nearer the date.

ALSO, if people tell me when they have got their tickets i can update the list accordingly :D

Basically cars on stands are the cars people go and look at. General public park in the public car park buy there tickets and look around the stands at the cars. Therefore the C2 Club stand will have cars representing c2 club for everyone to look at on show.

Indeed i did dose off. But was i drunk? Was i feck. I had been out the two nights before and had sod all sleep, we got back from the pub, and we were eating nibbles. We were drinking stubbies slowly.
