off the top of my head you can use sommit liek 10W40 or 5W30/35. Castrol i used when I had my VTS. Doesnt really make THAT much of a difference, just how quick your engine will warm up in colder conditiosn etc, but anything liek that will work just fine.

Cheers, got to go and get sum to top up after work. Does it matter if theres 10w 40 in for example and i then top it up with 5w 30?

ive never seen or had a problem with that, it will just mix in. Some people may suggest you do an oil change and change the filter etc, but its if you can be arsed to do that :P

was my understanding that the engine oil is one of the most important things to go into the engine as its what lubes it all up and makes it run nice? also it will make ur engine perform better as thick low grade oil is harder for the crank to cut thro where as thin high spec oil will be easier.

if u put low grade, poor quality oil into ur car it wont run anywhere as near as well as if u put some good quality oil in. ie tescos own isnt gunna be as good to your car as some of the opies, mobils or fuchs.

http://www.opieoils.co.uk thats a really good site for oil, has guides on what oil u may need for different uses, ie track/ fast road/ city driving. also has a good thing on where u can search for the best oil for your car.

if u join performancec2.co.uk u can get discount. and u may want to read THIS (http://performancec2.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=926&p=12715&sid=09398033eb759eb49f15a99062f915f9#p12715) as i found it very good.

I was saying that it doesnt make THAT much different on the grade of oil, which unless you have a super car, doesnt really make that much difference imo - its like people say VPOWER petrol makes your car faster..... Of course if you get Tesco own brand oil, that would be cheap crap.
But putting in a different Grade 10W40 or 5W30 etc etc wont effect your engine or damage it. Different oil for different jobs almost.

spot on. its just findin the oil u need is the tricky bit lol. the viscosity doesnt really make alot of differecne its just the flow rate at 100dgeC. Like everything in life, you get what you pay for. The cheaper the oil the cheaper the ingredients, lower the performance levels and older the specs it meets
