Just thought i would post a few pictures of my boot install which i have been designing for days. It now turns out that despite it looking great, it sounds S**T. lol.
So in light of that, its being stripped out and a simple box will be created to maximise box volume and ill have to see how best to still make it look good..
It just seems a waste of hard work by me and old man for pictures to at least not be shown. So here it is before stating again on the weekend.

It is a work of art to be honest, even better to see in reality. shame it will never get finished. There is just not enough air inside the box, my plan now is to double the height of the box at the bottom, seal it, and put both subs in it facing upwards. then mount the amp and power cap separate on a suspended shelf.
it will give me about 3.5 cubic feet, which is the recommended for two subs running at 500W RMS each according to the manufacturer.

looks good mate i wouldnt scrap it and make some simple box's. from what i can see in the pics its not sealed right there are a few gaps if you seel them and mabe extend them out a bit i bet they would sound quite nice what size mdf did you use think its about 18mm for sub boxes good effort fella looks nice!

Yea I do, it needs to be changed. The cubic volume isn't enough, and it can't be sealed properly. It will sound 1000 times better with a new box.

looks ok to me, you just need to silicone the f**k out of it inside and out. but looking back at the pic, you havent got sides on the box, you do know it needs to be sealed, right?

Like others have said, seal it really well. Other people have similar shapes and theirs sound good so it certainly has the potential.

And even if it sounds crap, it looks the dogs!

Dude, you aint far off!

Get some panels for the side of each boc to seal them up. Silicone the fcuk out of the join and cover with sound matting! Your box doesnt need to be enormous if you are running them sealed. The other option is, seal like I mentioned above and reverse mount the subs. Should score you 0.5 cubic per enclosure!

Dont give up man, looks great

i've been looking @ getting one of those brutus subs on ebay as i blew mine a couple of months ago, minus the bad install did u test the sub in a std. box to see how it sounds first? And if so can you tell me what you feel the quality of the sub is, does it have a lot of excurssion when pushed to the limit, and whats the max RMS on it? 600? thx

No I haven't tested it but have heard one and was very impressed, which is why I got two, LOL. They are great for the money, all hifonics stuff is, but only a few places stock it. They are 600 RMS yes, and if you give me till Monday I'll give you an update :thumb:

I think im just gna go ahead and order it, cheap and cheerful unless i see something else by friday.

I've got a 1000w Monoblock amp that produces 600Watts at 2Ohms. The Brutus sub, has it got dual voice coils? So it can run at 2 ohm? thx

yea, mine runs at 2 x 500w @ 2Ohms RMS ;)
Hifonics amps are fairly expensive, but have good output, and look great at night :)

m8 that look mint!! dnt scrap it. seal box's then cover it ad itll sound alot better. hope u put some sound proofing down as well!!

personly i wouldnt have used 18mm mdf for all of it as its abit on the heavy side for the amout thats needed. did u just screw 20x20mm lats where u wanted the angles then scribe the mdf to the shape?

Could you not just turn the subs the other way around??
