New Headunit

I am planning on getting the Alpine IDA X305 next month but there are a couple of things i would like to know.

Once i have changed the unit does the screen displaying Time / MPG etc still work ? Also how do you go about changing the time when the radio with the unit in isn't in the car?

Or can you have both units in the car one for The alpine for Audio and just leave the other for the car features ?

the car is an 06 VTS .. i assume its a Mk2

the MPG etc will work fine, not sure about setting the clock though, not a big loss though for what you gain, not thinkin of putting a double din stereo in, go in loveley and look wicked

yes the clock will still work- to change the time you will have to take the new headunit out and put the old one back in then swop back again

but arent the clock controls either side of the screen anyway? so why would the headunit make any difference?
