Hi,

Purchased my first car a few months ago a Citroen C2 Furio (2003) semi automatic. I realise that the Haynes car manual isnt out yet, so Im looking for ANY advice! Ive noticed that my coolant is always on 3 bars on the instrument panel is this the norm?? What is the average miles per gallon that people have been able to get? Any advice appreciated, many thanks :D

Yes the Temp on a Furio 1.4 Senso is always 3 Bars

On my old one I was getting between 38-45 Mpg (AVERAGE) steady motorway driving.

But pottering around town 32-37MPG

Yeah starting to get the hang of the sensodrive, still abit jerky when slowing down or speeding up LOVE my wee car lol! :)

....the biggest flaw I find is when approaching a GIVE WAY line - like at a roundabout or quiet junction, and the gearbox cant decide whether to select first or stay in second etc - so hesitant !!!

But other than that I really enjoy driving it

Yup Ive found that too, feel like Im bunny hopping around....find it very irritating when trying to take off quick, takes too long for the message to reach the gears! Never the less...first car = first love :)

I have the same car, in yellow. I get over 33mpg and I'm in London. I've taken to using the gearshift paddles behind the steering wheel. The upshifts are still as slow but at least they happen when I want. Even in Auto I tend to over-ride the 'box on an open stretch of road (a relative term in London) changing manually to 4th and 5th when Auto is holding on to 3rd. I also downshift myself but the 'box does change down, even in manual, if I forget. I only have to press the Auto button when I get lazy.

A warning more than advice.

I sometimes stay in the car working on my laptop (powered by a 12v to mains inverter off the cigarette lighter) or just listening to the radio. Often after I have done this, the door locking goes haywire so that I cannot lock the car using the remote when I leave. As you may have discovered, although you can lock the driver's door with the key, there is no locking button for the passenger door so this remains unlocked. You can't use the central locking button to do it as opening the driver's door unlocks all doors and the button doesn't work if you hold the driver's door open . The problem has corrected itself in the past - most recently when I activated the automatic locking function. At the moment the car won't lock immediately when I get out. I've discovered that if I wait for a minute or so until the dashboard lights go out and the interior light comes on again (!!!???!!!) the car will then lock with the remote. It will then unlock as normal next time I use it but locking again after use involves the same routine.

I have got it working properly in the past but have tried so many things to do so that it is impossible to know which did the trick. I only discovered this Forum in my search for a solution. It's driving me nuts. At this rate the first modification it will get will be a tree embedded in the bonnet!!
