hiya, as you've probably guessed my names aidy, and i dont have a c2, what i do have is a 16v 106 rallye that has destroyed another engine so i bought a 110bhp c2/307 engine with 14k on the clock.
i thought i might get some info on the engines on here, maybe manage to find some nice cheap vts cams if there is enough of a difference to make it worth changing them. so far its been a straight forward conversion. i've had to relocate the oil filter back to where it should be and drill some new holes in the head for my inlet to bolt on.
so yeah, here i am. i'm from near leeds and this would be my car

hey, welcome.
interesting to see people joining up from other side of the coin - ie putting c2 engines into other cars rather than putting other engines into the c2.
enjoy your stay :D

cheers guys
elninio, i've had 3 16v engines since just before fcs last year so i decided to sacrifice some power and get something low mileage. the 110bhp manifold looks really restrictive and i have a gti inlet and injectors on there so tbh i think itll be just as quick, its going on the rollers when its done to find out. part of me was gutted i couldnt run it with the standard injectors and inlet and have 110bhp and better economy but eventually i'lljust want to go fast again. i'll decided later wether to fit vts or newmann cams. i may soon be jobless so dont want to spend all i have.
teddy, i nearly put it up for sale the other day i've been that sick of it so you could have bought it. :(
greg chees, what made you move to a c2? i enjoyed driving my mates but he steering felt vague and horrid and the fly by wire throttle bugged me.
kimi, if you want i've got a marker pen here, we can draw you a tash and beard on then you can be a gent for a bit ;)

I had a N reg 1.1L Aztec then moved up to a 2002 1.4 Quiksilver which I loved, I always wanted a 106 GTI, but I was too fussy and wanted to find a 2001+ with low mileage and unmodified. Searched for about a year to find the perfect one but never did. Quiksilver was going to cost a bomb needing a driveshaft, door mirror and an injector and the leaking sunroof really began to **** me off.
Went to have a wee scout round some cars like the Lupo GTI and seen the C2 VTS. What appealed to me about them was the low insurance costs, similar-ish speeds and acceleration to a standard 106 GTI but it also had the added benefits of traction control, felt a bit more quality to sit in and it's one of the safest in its class. I admit that they dont look as good as the 106 (personal preference) and I agree that the steering certainly takes some getting used to as it's quite light and doesnt really feel like you're gripping the road at times. But I do love the C2 now and I dont have a sunroof so I dont get wet when I get in lol.

all good reasons, i've had mine 3 years now and there is still so much more i want to do to it. it's looking like wide track once its running right, using as many standard pug/cit parts as possible.turns out that the engine mount that came with my new engine has an intermediate bearing mount on it so i may be able to get a 307 box and shafts and hubs and modify everything to fit the 106 then cover it in a dimma kit.
i fancied fitting a c2 dash too but their really deep so i'll probably just not bother having a dash and fit a roll cage bar instead to bolt my clocks on. i'm bored of the saxo dash now

Aye the 106/saxo dash is a wee bit bland. I quite like the C2, quite nifty but as you said it is quite deep, and I dont know how easy it would be to modify and adjust. Good luck with the whole project mate, and definatly get the dimma kit, it looks fantastic! Oh and keep us updated with pictures :) .
