I fitted a sony head unit to my mk1 and had the common centre display problem so i bought the harness from citroen *who were actually quite helpful  * and fitted it this evening to find there has been no change whatsoever
the yellow and red leads on the back of my head unit are swappable and ive tried every combination under the sun yet my centre siplay is still Messed up and the ignition has no bearing n the power supply to my head unit *Always on*
Please help its doing my nut in!!!!!

Unfortunately, due to crummy Citroen wiring systems, an aftermarket headunit wont turn itself off, so I used to just turn it off by the power button on the headunit. I am sure I have read somewhere that some members have wired the headunit to the cigar lighter or something to get it to go off with the ignition? Don't know if thats worked or not though.
Have you been able to sort your screen out yet?

Yo Fella,
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds or so and reconnecting it. That's what I did to mine and it sorted out the centre display, you'll have to reset the date etc but it should work fine after that.
Your aftermarket radio won't turn off with the ignition unles you alter the wiring to the headunit, or just switch it off yourself when you get out of the car, that's what I do.

Wow forgot about this thread the I had the ignition wire wired to the cigar lighter seemed to do the trick and already new bout the battery thing so screen wasn't an issue since then got a new problem where the headunit can take several miles before it turns on and by this time it has lost it's memory could this be down to the fact that I have other stuff wired tithe cigar lighter?
no, if u pull the headunit out, you will see a yellow and a red wire, just switch them over, so red into yellow, and yellow into red! that should solve your problem

i noticed when turning the ignition off, the stereo is still on, but after about five minutes, theres a click from behind the glovebox and the stereo turns off automatically until the car is re-entered.
