Disconect the battery. Stick a screw driver in each side of the steering wheel centre while gentally pullin the airbag to yourself this will then pop out, unclip the wire, then undo the big torx bolt in the centre

No it doesn't blow the air bag mate because you've disconnected the battery, and you can put the standard wheel back in without a problem.

I've been playing with this idea for a while, good to know it's a quick easy thing to do for once on a c2
Hi, I also need to take the airbag off and have seen a couple of threads explaining how to do this.
However this method does not seem to work on my car, Sept 2008 VTR updated edition.
I've had someone try who has done it before and he failed. Does anyone know if Citroen changed the fixing system on the later models.

There is only one type of steering wheel airbag so there is only one way to remove it.
It is held in by a solid wire rod on each side of the air bag and a cast metal claw. On each side of the shaft on the back of the steering wheel is a hole. In the hole you will see the claw and the wire retainer. It will look like this (=11=). You need to push one or both sides of the wire inwards to clear the claw, that's just about a centimeter. You need to do it on both sides to release the airbag.
Thanks, it is now sorted.

Nevermind, I'll make my own topic.
