Hi all, i am looking at buying 2 subs and wanting to run them of a single amp,
what do i need to do this, and what channel will the amp need to be?
also, if i then amp all front 2 and rear 2 speakers, again,
what do i need to do this, and what channel will the amp need to be?
My HU has a sub output (currently in use with a active sub), and 3 pre-outs, what will i do about wiring up to those also???
Thank in advance,

2 channel for the subs,
4 channel for components,
remember to match you ohms and RMS when picking an amp don't want to blow the speakers ;)
really your HU should have 6 additional outputs to be able to do this:
2 or 1 output for a sub (most U.S HUs have 1 and need a Y adapter)
2 for rear speakers L&R
and 2 for front speakers L&R

hmm bus in? not to sure.
dose it have 2 connections red and white,
sounds like a auxiliary input...
nothing important will just be if you want to connect additional audio equipment to run the sound through the HU. eg. sound from a dvd player, games console, mp3 player etc...

oh yeye might be, actually i think your right.
so if i get a Y adaper, plug both amps into that, and dont i then wire the speakers into the 4 channel amp, not the RCA front and back left and right?
and then the amps into the 2 channel amp??

no you only need a y adapter if you HU has only one sub out but its most likely to have 2 a red and white?
so run the amp for the subs off that like your doing now.
then run the amp for the speakers form ether the front or rear l&r dosent really matter (id go for rear) the amp should step it up no problem.

oh ok, how about the blue cable that turns the amp on, i think it sends the signal to the amp to power on, there is only one i think, that is currently being used.
i think i need to look into this more first, lol

yer thats an ignition wire that turns the amp on with when the ignition is turned on.
its hasn't got much load on it so will be ok just to split it to go to both amps.
the only thing is size of power cable to power 2 amps would need to know the wattage of each amp to work it out, the one you have in now may be to small to run both off. or the other solution would be to run 2nd power cable in.

would u be able to run 2 subs and a pair of 6x9s from one 4 channel amp? or would you need 1 amp for subs and 1 amp for 6x9s?

i am looking for:
1 x about 2x300w RMS to power 2 subs (600w RMS)
1 x 4x100w RMS to power all 4 speakers (400w RMS)
if i have to run any additional power supplies then i will, and i'll split the ignition wire.
do you have any recommendations on manufacturers, iv been looking at 'Crunch' but speakers don't look good enough for their own amps. and hifonics amps are expensive for the configuration above.

so a total of 1000 watts RMS should really be run of a 1 or 0 AWG cable.
or two 4 AWG cables.
personally if i were to redo my install i would use RE-Audio they are a top U.S make and not too common in the uk, and have a good few ranges to suite different price ranges:

cant really go wrong with the likes of vibe, alpine etc.
i have always liked mutant gear, not the best of the best but, price and sound are good. think they have just released a new range aswell

would u be able to run 2 subs and a pair of 6x9s from one 4 channel amp? or would you need 1 amp for subs and 1 amp for 6x9s?
yes you can but you would have to run them from a speaker output rather than a sub out, eg. rear speaker out.
and the subs will then be in stereo, witch will cut down on bass.
or run them off the sub out but then they will both be in mono so 6x9 will be too bassy.
would be best for sound quality to use 2 x 2 channel.
or 1x 2channel just run the 6x9 off the HU.

Sony Headunit by any chance, the bus in is for a cd changer. I use to run 2x600w pioneer sub woofers of my 2 channel PG XS2200 amp which was only rated at 250wrms.
I would start by improving bass before you think about amps to run the speakers.
You could use a 4 channel amp to run 2 subs and 6x9's if it has 2 inputs, i use to have a kenwood amp that i ran 6x9's of 2 channels and a subwoofer of the other two which also had a bass boost. It had seperate crossovers for the channel pairs also.
