My names Jack, im from Hampshire, England. Im only 16 atm but looking to see if i can get myself a C2 as a first car, and figured this would be a nice place to get some ideas and help when it comes to it

Welcome mate, C2's in the lower engines would be great as a first car, as long as you have the money ;)

Thanks for the reply :)

Yeah I've been looking at some 1.1's, hopefully buying the thing shouldn't be too much of a problem. Any guesses as to how much the insurance would be for a 17 year old new driver? My dad seems to think it will be too much and is suggesting that I'm put as a named driver for his Dihatsu Four Track which tbh, isn't much of a luxury vehicle :P

Not sure mate, often depend on where u live and if its garaged etc etc,
however thier one of the cheapest cars around to insure! Insurance group 2 if I'm right, I think only Smart across are better haha!
I got a 1.4 and I'm 18 and the insurance is £1700, but shop round to get some ideas! :)

I turned 17 3 weeks ago, c2 1.1 as my first car, insurance with my dad as named driver is about 1500, they're pretty decent though, I recommend getting one

Thanks for the replies guys, doesn't seem too bad but i will see what my Dad thinks of it.

Is the 1.4 a lot more than the 1.1 to insure or is there not much in it?

I got a 1.1 as my first car, and still have it now at 21, I'll be gutted when it goes.

I was paying £1100 in my first year and now its down to £480 on my own.

probably put it over 2000, the 1.1 is good anyway, honestly. and you could spend the money you save insuring it on modding it :D

Nice, everyone keeps telling me there's no point modding my first car and spending money on it if i will just get a new car, but im sure if i get a nice 1.1 and mod it nicely I can stick with it for a long time. I don't want to go over the top with it though, but definately do something :)

£1,100 though, that sounds really good 8O

Its not when you have to find it all lol.

I have modded mine a bit, but it mainly standard parts from a GT though.

I don't plan on getting rid of mine for a long time, but if you stick to simple mods you can make it really nice for only a little money

Sweet jesus, im quoting that to my dad.
sounds like a plan
it depends a lot on the area you live and also how old your dad is.
my dads nearly 60 so it does help bring the price down and also if your dad has a clean license, this will help the insurance be a lot cheaper

hope this helps

My Dad's 46 (i think :? ) living in a quiet part of Wiltshire with a driveway that can hold about 4 cars tops running a family business called Malmesbury Syrups (http://www.malmesburysyrups.co.uk/)

The quote for me being a named driver on his old 2.0L Dihatsu Four Track was something like £350, so i cant imagine a C2 can be much more?

well if you live there i think a c2 vtr would be no problem on your dads insurance, infact why dont you just go for a c2 vts instead or a loeb or a code

if you have the money
