can anyone tell me where to find the fuel filter on a mark 1 vtr thanks

To be honest i thought it was under the bonnet in a bin shaped canister with 4 bolts holding the top down. Fuel pump and gauge sits under the rear seats sealed with a large screw top.
Part No. 1906 A5, paper style filter. pretty sure about that.

MY Son has just had a 40k Service done by our mobile mechanic and everything is OK apart from the fuel filter on his 1.6 vtr (2004 model)
He has checked the engne bay, under the rear seats and under each of the rear wheels but cannot find the said filter.
The diagram on the c2sportsclub site shows it near the fuel pump but under the rear seats there is only the large rubber housing that the pump sits underneath and no smaller one.
Is the filter built into the larger unit under the rear drivers wheel that the diagram shows?
