My friend, who was origionally gettin the gti golf has changed his mind, he is now geting a leon cupra that has ben remapped to 225bhp. he sais that when you remap them, it is untraceable, i have thought this was the case but could insuance find out somehow?as they are unlikely to dyno it...
anyway I am looking into getting my vts remapped, what kind of horse power do you reckon just a remap will take it too?
i dont want to mod it in any other way.

cheers mate, anyone reckon its owrth while? not talking bout goin with angel or bringing up the topic of tunig comaies! i just mean is it worth it just getting it remapped?big differece?
i havent had it done but it doesnt seem worth it for the amount you end up paying, now if you had a HDi VTS then you'd be talking!

yeh I have heard ou can remap them to give you lots more!
So presuming it will give me 12-15 more horsepower, I wouldnt have tought it would improve the 0-60 time by more than 0.2/3 of a second?

so general view is not worth it unless in conjuction with another performance mod?

First of all a re-map is traceable.
Then the peak power increase figures of Angel Tuning are a bit on the generous side.
Talking about not being worth it on a petrol I have to disagree. Acceleration will decrease much more than 0.3 seconds from 0 to 60mph. Looking at peak to peak figures is not representing the real situation. The torque delivery improves especiall in the lower end of the rpm range, which improves acceleration more then noticeably.
Additional effect is that fuel consumption will decrease.

if u do manifold, zorst, induction the a remap will help as it improves your power curve and also it will tie in all your mods.

:) Yeah... VTS HDI is can be re-mapped to 150 as standard. ;)
We're currently working on getting induction sorted for it which will take the HDi to 160bhp :)

Yeh Icant really do any other mods that are so easily traceable as I wouldnt get insured and it would valid y warrenty.I just spoke to the tunig guy where I would get it done and he said it would get an extra 10bhp then obviously make it smoother and give it a bit more torque...for 250 pounds, what do you all think, I am temted, you reckon I should do it?

Will just smooth out any flatspots. dont think you can really gain that much via ecu tuning on an unmodified NA engine. unless the manufacturer really bodged its mapping, which i doubt =)

yeh I mean 10bhp extra on the face of it didnt sound too much but then I though it will make it more torquey and smoother and 10bhp is nearly 10% of my total bhp anyway...you reckon I will feel a difference though?? its not the money that is the problem, I just dont wan2 take an unnecesery risk (warrenty, insurance)if it wont make me smile first time I put my foot down...:-)

Not only it will improve the power delivery, it will also improve your fuel consumption

Its just a sales ploy to encourage middle aged men to get it done on their big turbo diesels whilst on a standard car the fuel consuption wont be affected they think its using less cause theyre getting more power for the fuel. The only way your car is going to draw a noticeable amount of extra petrol is if you uprate the fuel delivery as the staandard pump can only can only deliver a limited amount of fuel
