Yo Peeps,

I actually got around to spending a few quid on me car.

I got fed up of wheel trims
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r372/Carpy_Boy/C2_Before.jpg

I bought some wheels (17" TSW Freeze)
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r372/Carpy_Boy/C2_After.jpg
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r372/Carpy_Boy/beforelowering.jpg

It had to be lowered 35mm
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r372/Carpy_Boy/clean3.jpg
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r372/Carpy_Boy/clean2.jpg
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r372/Carpy_Boy/clean1.jpg

Couldn't go any lower as it probably won't go back in my garage. It could do with a spoiler and maybe a set of skirts but that will have to wait as my grandchildren have need of a few quid off the old bloke as well !!!!

I also want to put an intercooler, new cat back exhaust and then get a tidy remap as the last one was a disaster (but thats an old topic)

I think that looks awesome :)

If you get skirts and a spoiler will you get some splitters for the front bumper too?

Carpy
22-08-2008, 10:16 PM
Yo SagVTR,

Yes to the splitters, may as well it won't cost a great deal more

R2-C2, elemental,

I totally understand your comments, Wheels are always purely a subjective choice, you either love 'em or hate them, I love mine !!

Everyone else as well,
Cheers for your comments

Hey Little Lady,

I guess we are pretty unique within this club, there's not many of us out there. I always look out for our colour, but hardly ever see one.

Insurance companies are inherently awkward b***ards, they seem to think a set of nice wheels turns you into a speed demon, now we all know that none of us ever exeeds the speed limit (Honest Officer !!!)

Yo Peeps,

Fitted my intercooler today, haven't piped it yet as I need to pillage my local car spares shop and try out his fine selection of radiator hoses to find something suitable. Will put some photo's here soon

I've got my remap booked for Friday at Citystyling via Gareth (welshC2) and the rolling road. Will post a report after it's all done also intend to fit a K & N Panel Filter before the remap.

After my last fiasco with Angel Tuning just Wish Me Luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I fitted an intercooler for a C2 (it's the same one for a C3), I had it from carcooling.co.uk. It was £100.74 including postage. I've got some photos of it here. I haven't piped it yet, my guy in the local spares shop is getting me some flexible pipes on Monday

Yo Peeps,

An intercooler, or charge air cooler, is an air-to-air or air-to-liquid heat exchange device used on turbocharged and supercharged (forced induction) internal combustion engines to improve their volumetric efficiency by increasing intake air charge density through isochoric cooling. A decrease in air intake temperature provides a denser intake charge to the engine and allows more air and fuel to be combusted per engine cycle, increasing the output of the engine.

The inter prefix in the device name originates from historic compressor designs. In the past, aircraft engines were built with charge air coolers that were installed between multiple stages of supercharging, thus the designation of inter. Modern automobile designs are technically designated aftercoolers because of their placement at the end of supercharging chain. This term is now considered archaic in modern automobile terminology since most forced induction vehicles have single-stage superchargers or turbochargers. In a vehicle fitted with two-stage turbocharging, it is possible to have both an intercooler (between the two turbocharger units) and an aftercooler (between the second-stage turbo and the engine). The JCB Dieselmax land speed record-holding car is an example of such a system. In general, an intercooler or aftercooler is said to be a charge air cooler.

Intercoolers can vary dramatically in size, shape, and design, depending on the performance and space requirements of the entire supercharger system. Common spatial designs are front mounted intercoolers (FMIC), top mounted intercoolers (TMIC), hybrid mount intercoolers (HMIC). Each type can be cooled with an air-to-air system, air-to-liquid system, or a combination of both.

Courtesy of Wikipedia

In other words its a radiator that the air for the turbo goes through, cooling it down and increasing its density, giving you more bang for your buck.

I'm an anorack I know, but I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldnt go over the top just subtle spoiler maybe like the 1's on the furio/vtr/gt/vts etc.

qusetion for you aswell mate! Did you use spacers or any other fitments when u put on ur 17" alloys and have u had any problems like them rubbin or bumping??

Carpy
29-09-2008, 10:19 AM
Yo jnc90,

Nah no spacers mate, I bought the wheels in the right fitment for a C2. If I go on full lock they sometimes slightly touch the liner that sits in the wheel arch but I don't use full lock often so it doesn't matter really. As for the bumping the answers no again. As you probably read, I've lowered it on springs as well and no problems (apart from it won't get into my garage any more because of the lip on the entrance to it.

ay up, car looks trick! whats the maximum you can lower on springs without changing the shocks? want a lower stance but dnt want to spend the money on coilovers... dnt know how much longer ill have my car? and is it worth putting just springs on a vts? didnt know if the springs were slightly lower/harder anyway??

I've managed to pipe up the intercooler at last

From Passenger Side
http://i353.photobucket.com/albums/r372/Carpy_Boy/DSC_0014.jpg

The pipe with the hose clips on is the only one I could find in my local scrapyard that was about right for the job. I bought 2, 90 degree elbows(50mm dia) with about 10inches of pipe either side, and managed to get the metal elbows from work, and also reused the original pipe by turning it around (if things go pear shaped when I'm out it's easy to bypass the intercooler and go back to normal)

I've just ordered a K&N Panel Filter as well, so it's all systems go towards my remap. As soon as the rolling road is ready I will make arrangements for the remap via Gareth.

Cheers Peeps

Hey Guys (and Gals)

Sorry but I won't be coming to Walsall after all, I've got my car booked in to Red Dot in Watford for a remap and r/r on 21st Nov in the morning.

It's a bit of a jaunt, at around 3hrs drive to get there but I heard a lot of excellent reports of their work. I'll be sure to post the before and after graphs for you to see.
