The VTS Kid's VTS was nice too - I had a quick ride in it and it was noticeably faster and firmer than my VTR. Banging stereo too. You wonder why he wore a hat? It was to stop his hair getting messed up by the blast from the sub - my ears are still ringing...
And next time I'm parking at the other end cos my VTR's not in many of the pics. And I'll always stay in the front 5 cars in a convoy in future, cos as you can't get more than 5 through a green light, if you're near the back you turn up too later after all the pix are taken.... ;)
Anyway I'm not moaning it was a great day and some great pix Jaimz!

And Chia and I had a good wazz down the M6 and Toll Road on the way there too, which was a blast. Two silver C2s (my VTR and his smart VTS) - everyone we passed must have thought they were seeing double...

Oh and me and Chia had a good run to Watford Gap, making up for lost time and doing stunts involving artic. lorries :D
the raod into the pod was superb, as was the one to the pub, lots of quite tight left-handers to get the suspension skitting across the road and even some loud tyre squealage :D
lowered my average mpg from 45.5 to 40.8, but twas 42.8 by the time i got home

I suggest for the summer - a weekend event with camping or whatever. That way those that won't travel for a day event might make the effort if it's a longer meet. I suggest a pub with food/B&B/camping in the middle of the country somewhere. The BX register (part of the CCC of which I was a member when I had a BX) met at a pub nr Matlock which had basic camping facilities and did breakfast (and maybe B&B too). Some good scenery round there too for a cruise and photo opportunities.
Just a thought...
On the subject of Artics, ask the VTS kid about the artic on the entry slip to M1 on the way back from the pub...
Top day out - well done all!

oi! Vts-kit what happened with the artic on the entry slip to M1 on the way back from the pub?? :)
For future reference, the C2 is narrow enough to squeeze between two offset lorry cabs

I didn't realise that on joining the M6 it went down from 2 to 1. Never mind the arrows on the road!!!! Anyway I was in a pincer between the lorry and the armco. I just nipped through. VTS kid was following and had to sling on the anchors before the lorry squished him.
Then he, me and Jaimz danced up the M1 - every lane, every combination - best fun this old man's had in ages....
DG04GJZ
yeah i got ahead of the truck on the roundabout :D it was cool on the M1 although I couldnt help feel a bit lacking in the power department :(
i like the summer idea. wouldnt mind travelling further too if it was a whole weekend of fun :D

Nice one guys i got home safe (no hub caps to go through my front grill) but was knackered when i got back. My trip worked out at 270 miles. Good to meet you all and just a thought there are two pubs with B+B and camping just up the road from me in sussex???.
Thanx for the pics Jaimz, i'll try and put the pic on my avatar, cheers.

Hey, Im a bit late to the conversation i know, but just thought i'd say what a good day it turned out to be!. Loads of fun down those country lanes (thanks to Alex's GPS), (i hadn't really realised how well C2's can go on muddy country lane bends - Loads of fun!) and some motorway fun with Jaimz, & DG (and Alex on the way home), so all good stuff!
Oh and for the record....DG was well close to having "Scania lorry" tattoed to his left hand door on the slip lane to the M1!. All good fun tho!.
Great pic's by the way Jaimz, well done for getting them up so quick!.
cheers mate, fell free to steal any pics for your own uses. ive known how good they are down lanes for quite a while, some nice ones over my way, but vts-kid be careful round your way some of those corners are EVIL!!!
any more pics send em to me and ill put them on the page with the others

Hello everyone. A good day konowing you all, I also enjoyed to mystery tours. And AlEX, I wish I had a video camera so I could have recorded you cutting in between the lorries. I thought he would not make it!!! 8O .
Alex, you may look 12 - sorry I mean 13, you drive that 1.1 to the max, (Respect).
DG04GJZ, I had to reach a speed of up to 125mph to catch up to you after paying for the toll. I was on full aleart looking for cops!!
And VTSKID, I saw the gap in between the stereo aswell 8O ! Dont worry, I got one too!
i reached a top speed of a ton playing catchup to vts-kid on the way home after he dived across two lanes and undertook alex - was a sweet move. i hit a ton, then dived into the middle, passed 4 cars and back out in front of vtskid again :D

AlexLX
31-01-2005, 11:40 PM
:o Jaimz I spotted you doing that yesterday- thought it was VTS Kid!!  Shows the might of the 1.1! I was attempting catch up with crotchrocket down the lanes near the pod, got quite a bit of lean and tyre squeel around those corners :D
lol yeah it was me, stupid clio pulled out on me so i dived into the middle.
as for the lanes, i was keeping up with whoever was in front of me - think it might have been chia, was getting major understeer then snapping off and the tyres screeching into line with just a hint of oversteer :D

While i'm only new here I would have liked to have come along as it sounds like a right good laugh and Watford is only down the road for me. But alas I had only just recovered from the Flu.
Also, did you know the Watford Gap is actually nowhere bloody near Watford? Good thing I checked multimap before I hopped behind the wheel.
lol nigma yeah different watford :D
jaimz 8)
Nigma
01-02-2005, 01:02 AM
Thats the thing, it IS the same Watford. People got no business misleading your average 'ignorant of the wider countries geography' motorist!
there is another watford right near watford gap services though
here (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=52.3054&lon=-1.1192&scale=100000&icon=x) shows the other watford that isnt in herts, but northants. postcode area nn72

My C2 VTR is the second from the end nearest the motorway in the first three pix. It wasn't on the later pix, for reasons that only those who came back to WG will know! ;)
A nice show of Mr Rocket's Knight Rider impression too...
The Police Range Rover in one of Jaimz's pics was linked (literally!) to the Astra you can see in the background with the RAC van.
Oh, if only you'd have been there you'd know what I was on about!

AlexLX

i reckon he is crotch's love child ( hence the ginger hair ) :P
haha jody needs to put a post about the april meeting up so more people come.
man that gallardo was so sweet :D and also the escort that passed us shortly after :D

Two places with the same name?? Its bad enough when them yanks do it, I need to save up for a damn TomTom now.
People got no business misleading your average 'ignorant of the wider countries geography' motorist!
tomtoms have a tendancy to tell you at the last second when to turn, eh alex? like 50 yards when im outside him trying to pass a message  then shit we're going off here!!!
jaimz 8)
AlexLX
01-02-2005, 09:27 PM
Very true, of course it was the Tom Tom's fault 8) , and also when I pulled into the fast lane a few metres in front of you
crotchrocket
01-02-2005, 10:16 PM
Ok i admit it, he was my love child 'crotchrocket Jr.'.
Next time we go to santa pod we have to go on the strip as all of you big girls didn't want to before :D , it's only £25 for the day and as many runs as your car can take. we might get it cheaper id we go as a group??
coyote
01-02-2005, 11:28 PM
Dood, Last time i ran there, it was tenner in (as we found out, the 15 quidleys for 3 runs :(
TBH, we are better going to the track where i race, Avon Park (sorry, Shakespeare county raceway to be politixcally correct)
Crotch, if i'd had the money it wouldn't have been a problem mate. Drag Strips are where i grew up mate! And i doubt the tight b4rstards at the pod would do group discount to be fair...leave it wiv me matey...
cant we do some track work instead? im crap at drag racing, but quite a lot better round a track :D
jaimz 8)
AlexLX
02-02-2005, 12:00 AM
Jaimz weve gotta have a dragrun for the 1.1's! and Jody can have a go as well :D
yeah, between the two of us itd all be down to the start. i gotta practise my speed starts :P i so prefer track/roads with corners - i was being held up on that lane to the pub by the vts in front of me :D
jaimz 8)
By the way - I've uploaded coyote's pics, take a gander.

So the TomTom is no use when you're speeding? ;)
Have you put the speed camera locations on yours? Cos that upgrade is what caught my interest in it.
AlexLX
02-02-2005, 05:22 PM
Surprisingly I was only doing about 50!! Its a slow system so its not suited to the city unless you crawl along, it was great on the country roads though! I havent added the camera locations yet, im getting a road angel for that because im hating Truvelo cameras at the moment.
Saw 3 c2's in convoy going thru rushden on sun avo about 3pm - was it anyone from the meet? or may have been to santa pod?
Nigma
02-02-2005, 06:41 PM
I haven't used one, but form the demos i've seen it like, draws out your map in 3d, so you can see where you're going before you get there? Also, what sort of voice is it? Sultry yank or authoritarian german?
Jeremy_VTR
02-02-2005, 08:02 PM
Heed
I reckon we were out of Rushden before 3pm but it could have been us if it was two blues (Jaimz and VTS kid) and one silver (me) - we'd lost Alex by then!!!!! And the others had lost us :(
DG04GJZ
that was amusing, we were behind then got in front - go figure!!

02-02-2005, 11:08 PM
I couldn't grasp that one either!
Jaimz, i will be asking some questions regarding a trackday at castle coombe circuit. probably round the £100 mark for the day ticket :?
