OK, I've just got paid (although the scroungers haven't paid me extra for the bank holidays!!) and I'm gonna buy myself a satnav unit. i'm rubbish at reading maps, and so is my mate who's gonna come to the camping meet, so satnav is the only option! OK, so it's between the Garmin C310 and the TomTom One. I'm not gonna spend any more than £250, because I have to make sure I have enough money for petrol over the next month, and make allowances for replacing tyres or whatever.

I have no experience of the Garmin but I have TomTom Navigator 5 and an Ipaq and it works really well.

I would be interested to see other people's thoughts as I want to my Sat Nav for someone as a present.

I've just looked at the spec for each unit, and so far the Garmin looks like it's better, with 256MB memory card, as opposed to 125MB for the TomTom, but as TomTom seems more reliable and more people have it, I'll probably get that. Gonna have to ask someone in Halfords though.

i wouldnt think memory was that important, as all it has to hold is a map of the uk. reliability and will it take u to the right place oh and how up to date the maps are. :D

OK, I've gona against the flow a bit here, and chosen one that was recommended by Auto Express. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/HalfordsProductsComparisionView?pclist=213907&compare=Compare+Products&langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&categoryId=33962 pretty cool, huh?

Oh, btw, does the C2 have a screen that would mean I have to buy an extra aerial?

i would go for something that is reliable rather than something that has a lot of specs (more things to go wrong)
