polish twice a year wax every week if you have time (or more)
Loads of different polishes you can use alot of good quality ones, ones with carnuba wax in are supposed to be good. It all depends on your budget

Autoglym stuff - got pretty much everything there is - swear by it.
Definitely polish at least twice a year, use paint restorer every two years too if you've a few days on your hands.
Waxing's a must - I do every other week but my car's kept covered.

what wax would you recomend? do you put it on in the same way that you do with polish?
should you not polish your car alot then?

notsure the best to use as I dont really have the time to wax/polish mine. Dont polish too often tho as you are rubbing off the top layer of laquer, do it too much and you will have no laquer and eventually no paint (obviously extreme case scenario)

kwl, so polish wont really give yopu a shine, but wax will, is the Meguiars Tech Wax good then?
i had a litle look at it on the interweb and it looks decent.

My boyfriend clayed mine, which made the paint smooth and shiny.
But usually just Wax, usually Meguiars Gold Class :)

The clay made mine reallly shiny! But apparently it takes a while.
Yep, thats the max, although you can buy the shampoo and wax together for £16 i think... Money well spent if you ask me. Always used that and always looks shiny!

polish only a few times a year as its quite rough for the paint :( but wax is ok for it so you can wax about once a week with some good effects :) polish i use autoglym super polish, and the wax i have a few Meg wax paste, P21, and i am looking at the new autoglym HID wax but its £39 a tub :(

My routine:
wash wheels first,
dry,
dress tyres,
wash car using the 2 bucket method,
dry,
clay (occasionally)
re-wash (to get rid of the shite that the clay leaves)
dry,
Polish on,
polish off,
wipe all over with microfibre cloth,
wax on
wax off
dress plastics/buff exhaust.
Then if i can be arsed, do the interior lol
I use autoglym car shampoo, autoglym super resin spolish, Tropi-care clay bar, Autoglym fast wheels, SmartWax Wax (swear by the stuff!!!) AND THE RESULTS:

yes as the clay bar gets rid of crap on the surface of the paint, and makes it glass smooth :D

Yep, I've got the below, it works like a dream. Isn't too much more hard work than waxing it all either. Great results!

clay kits are good just dont go too hard at the paint because you can make swirls worse, its only supposed to remove bonded contaminants such as tar and tree sap, I use meguairs they do a kit in halfrauds at the moment for about £25 cant really go wrong with meguairs or autoglym but if your pockets are a bit deeper go for zymol, there is a lot of info and guides on detalingworld.com.
