upset at xbox 360 :(

am dead upset :(

my 360 seems to be on its way out.

every disk i put in is recognised as a dvd and for me to play a game i must sit at the console for up to 30mins pressing eject over and over till it makes a little more sound than usualy and loads the game.

and for example : when i FINALLY get forza to work....1/2 way round a track the road seems to simply vanish and i obviously crash and loose which is annoying coz 3 more races and ill get the achievement for doing all the races in single player :(

Based on this, i have just ordered my 40gb PS3.......£150.00 brand new all in from a friend of a friend.

although a bargain im still gutted coz i am at heart a microsofter.

the console was bought xmas 2006...start of 2007 i think!

surely it should last longer than this and still be under warranty coz its been really looked after.

contact them! we had the "ring of death" problem and microsoft sent ups out the same day to pick it up to get it fixed!

Microsoft extended the original 1 year warranties to 3 years late last year when the Elite came out, mainly down to the 'ring of death' problems, but it covers the entire console, be it the dreaded 'ring of death' or anything else.

Contact Microsoft and they will repair it for you :)

i have had the rings of death on my 360 3 times (twice it was fixed for free by microsoft) but this time im sick of it so i have given it to a mate
i too have just got a ps3. y oh y did i bother with a 360 ps3 is the way to go

ive got the PS3 as "apparantly" there arnt any common faults with them and as far as i know theyre supposed to be reliable.

my xbox has the exact same problem, i rang microsoft and said i bought mine xmas 2006 and they refused to do anything under warrenty. I was told to ring back if i get the 3 red light issue then it will be covered. Total joke.

Tempting to ring up and say ive had the 3 red light issue so they take it lol

ive neva had a problem with my 360 its fantastic, even some of my friends sold there ps3's to get one and now they're hooked. My brothers got an elite and its pretty good, he got the new chip set so its amazingly quiet.

i think it will prob be a growing problem not just with xbox 360 but with PS3's as consoles get more advance, there is more things to go wrong, just like PC's etc....

I find that my xbox 360 sometimes also says that its a DVD that Ive put in (and this is sometimes on a brand new disk, its worked sometimes when I put in a CD (music) then swap it for a xbox game.. dunno why tho??

ive got the Old Elite the one with the 200+ Watt Chip, new ones come with a lower voltage 175Watt one, i noticed my elite was alot quieter than my old 360 wich is a good thing.

Get an elite mate, if u got a old normal 360 and want to keep your data, slap in the 20gb drive and order the free data cable from microsoft.

just get a company to stick a non Microsoft disk drive in and flash it.
then you can play back-ups well copies games for a £5 means more to spend on the car imo.

if its under warranty MS will re-pair it for free.

i buy them off ebay like this. its an easy fix for people with pc building experience.
basically caused by overheating and the x-clamp holding the heat sink,
expand and move the chip and can brake the connections. the fix is to
remove the heat sink, clean off old paste, re-paste with better paste (artic silver 5 is the best) then attach the heat-sinks back on with uprated bolts. and attach them really tight to force a good connections, i use the plastic bolts due to they don't expand with heat. i also up rate the fans. :-D

(the problem is mainly caused by over playing or standing the xbox on its side blocking ventilation)

Just going to make sure its not working on my TV downstairs as I have it connected to the one in my bedroom, if that doesnt work I will be ringing up Microsoft in the morning so they can come and pick the bugger up :(
