Wax & Water Beading

Lucky enough the weather was good here yesterday and so I gave the car
a good going over.

I use Turtle Wax Colour Magic (its like a polish but more of a liquid wax)
this I find does a great job to help hide any light scratches and swirls. It
also leaves a fantastic shine with excellent clarity & depth.

When I eventully got up this morning 09.30am and stumbled into the kitchen
for the well needed morning coffee and the always look out the window at the car.
I noticed it had been raining overnight and my mate had told me that his ZYMOL wax
is the best coz it gives an insane water beading effect after it rains.
So out I went with cam to see how the beading is on the VTS.

It was ok and I rate it like 7/10 for beading effect as it wasnt like the beads
were standing tall but there hundreds and thousands of beads which is cool.

What I wanna know is, how does your car look when its wet (after it rains)
and to see how good your beading is and what wax you use.

i use the P21 wax, its good stuff, i will try and get some pics next time, the only thing with beading is when the sun is out and it drys, it leaves water marks :( which need waxing again. Good thread tho, not how clean is your car, but how wet lol :P

Clive your right about the water marks from beading but easy to buff off
if the car is waxed very good.

Was going to buy P21 due to the great write ups on the stuff.
Yeah it be great to see what effect that wax gives for beading. :thumbsup:

i have used ZYMOL wax, and i wasnt to impressed with it as it left white dust/powder on the car, where as the p21 wax is colourless :D

I'm now using Autoglym shampoo, Super Resin polish and the same P21 Carnauba (sp) wax as Clivey :)

Dave you got the idea, use pics it shows the real thing.

The beading on your car's paint is good and shows that the wax is working,
but the beading on your mirror is EXCELLENT. Now that is the beading I
want on the paint work. 8/10

I havn't exactly waxed the new motor yet since its about double the square footage of the c2 and i havn't had a lot of time !

but this is the closest ive come to beading! (Its more pooling really but hey im not going to miss out on any opertunity to show off the Z "I'm Still smitten" ) :)

Now that is good "pooling" (good new word), it shows the car has been
waxed but the new owner should now be using some elbow grease and
do section by section. Or bring some godd wax down here on Saturday and
I will help the knackered dude :) 7/10

lol you nutter.... That sounds like a plan too me ... Ill let you wash & wax the Z , ill do your vts and when im done it should give me enough time to do the dailymail cross word or something else equally time consuming while you finish the other 3/4 of my car! ;)

Its amazing how much filth settles on the car within a few hours and more
so after it has rained. Still coz of the good waxing the paint work is not
going degrade.
You can always tell if a car has been waxed even after a few days with
how the water beads on the car.

My mate uses that stuff and it gives excellent protection with depth and clarity
but does lose on a gloss finish (blue car.) He has excellent beading so cant

Have a go at their advice page on their site, gives an idea of what is needed
for a good finish for your car, ie coz of where you park it, new or old paint etc etc.

Gotta admitt you have a top beadage and so has Dave. Both are neck and
neck with an overall 9/10 for sure but after I have done my car this weekend

That above was Mer and good ole' elbow grease, but ive nw converted to Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 and here's beading from those, and one of the finished shine :) RATE IT FOR ME :D

im gettin collinite 476 auto wax soon and been told thats brilliant
its around £15 for a 9oz pot but it beads the water for about a year with a good waxing, thats what iv ben told anyways
