How about meeting at the world famous SANTA-POD drag strip and have a blast down the 1/4 mile strip.

Run What You Brung. (Also incorporates the JapShow Finale Test Day)

So basically £30 (all in £10 admis + £20 track) and you get unlimited runs for the day, the only time is the waiting.

£10 admission and watch other members make fools of themselves

This will allow some of our members to compete head to head and get some good 1/4 mile times and speeds.

Santa Pod Raceway in Northampton offers the cheapest and most accessible track time in the UK. For just £10 admission and £20 to "sign on", you can take your car and motorcycle out on the famous quarter-mile dragstrip and test it's performance limits in a safe and legal environment.


You don't have to apply for a race licence, you don't have to tape over your lights, you don't even have to own a fast car or bike! Your mum's Fiesta or street bike would do the job fine and most of the drivers who come along will be racing in normal road cars and bikes. Some, however, may have slight modifications or even be professional racers in their drag cars and bikes but don't worry, you won't be pitched against a 300mph Top Fuel Dragster!

The only thing you need to go drag racing at the famous Santa Pod Raceway is a valid UK driving licence, £10 for admission and a £20 signing-on fee. You'll be entitled to unlimited runs or as many as your nerves will allow! After each run you'll receive a personal performance print-out showing your reaction times to the start lights, 60ft, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile times and terminal speed. If you really get hooked you could then apply for a competition licence and enter a street class at a proper race meeting because, don't forget, the RWYB days are how most of the professional racers get started.

Also, throughout the year there are specialist events and festivals which incorporate Run What Ya Brung, including car only, bike only and manufacturer-specific events. Prices vary for these events, please see the calendar for more info.

Yes entrance tickets are £10 on the gate, and track tickets are £20 from race control centre.

Yes still got the C2, but might not risk taking it down the strip, might even turn up in the Disco and see what that is like against a C2 1.4 or 1.1 ;-)
My calculations on power to weight ratio the Discos 2.5Tdi (140bhp) is about the same power as a 1.1i

Yes ended up doing a 14hr shift, it was a customer stopper and the press and robot needed to be fully operational for Sat. Morning shift start.

Well a frankly shabby turnout of 4 C2s and myself.

Luke and I were there from about 8:30, guy in a blue Furio who's name I didn't catch pitched up for a while, Andyh was there for a couple of hours and matt.still too.

Luke and I were the only ones that did more than a couple of runs - had a good day trying to increase our times. His best was in the 16.9 region, mine was 17.33 (got consistent runs of 17.3-17.4 throughout the day)

We managed one head-to-head his GT vs my T-Sport and I beat him by 1/10 second though so head to head I was quicker :P

Was disappointed at how few showed up given we had an area reserved for 25 cars, which was empty for 75% of the time.

I'm back down tomorrow with Yaris Club but not running down the strip again.

Hey! I was there too! It was just really quiet though, I ended up just watching an assortment of skylines, MR2's, Evo's and Subaru's hitting the strip! Quality day! Checked out AndyH's wide arched VTR too which is fantastic! Got a few pics, not sure who owns the red GT in the pics though!

Totally agree, anything could have come up that would have stopped anyone turning up to the meet...just like yourself

Only 6 cars turned up to the Southport meet the other weekend, and 2 in the April Southport meet last year, both organised by me, I wasnt insulted.

was very dissapointed at the turn out but the guys that did turn up were cool, didn't really get chance to have a good chat with anyone cause they were all on the strip.
