View Full Version : New grill

18-11-2005, 12:28 AM
Got the car back from the bodyshop the other day. Taken a few snaps, but here are the first.

It went into the shop because someone left a big dent in the rear arch, and a scrape down the door while it was parked in a carpark. Needless to say, they drove off and left me with the bill!

While it was there, I got a new grill put in. Its similar to the one on Cituning, but different.... See for yourselves! :D

Much of an improvement over the standard grill but it would look much better if you got the mesh powdercoated in black! ;), I think it looks a bit d.i.y home made in silver!.

18-11-2005, 11:22 PM
I did toy with the isea of having black mesh, but i descided against it.
The last pic there was taken on my phone too, so the sharpness and colour isn't the best. Looks better in real life!

Did you need to take the bumper off to fit the grill?

18-11-2005, 11:28 PM
I think so. I let my bodyshop figure that one out! :?

What did you pay for just the painting & fitting of the grill mate?

18-11-2005, 11:38 PM
No, it went in to be fixed. Had a dent on it and a big old scratch. So I got that done at the same time. :)

My black VTS has a huge key scratch on the bonnet. It boils my blood but going to see the winter out before getting it fixed.

19-11-2005, 12:05 AM
You wanna get it done before that! With all the salt on the roads, and the water about, itll rust very quickly if its down to the metal! Then itll be much more expensive!

I got my grill for about £70. And got the dent repaired and the new grill put on for £440 inc. VAT. Bargin, and its looks absolutly perfect, you would never know!! :D :D

Yeah was thinking that but looking close it looks like it still has the laquer coat on, so should protect it from rust.

I like the meshed grill, but something doesnt look right about it? :?

Needs the chevrons on it to break up the mass of mesh :)

Or put a VTS badge in on corner of the mesh.

Plenty of VTS badges on Ebay, usually the self adhesive kind.

Had a Furio one off there for less than a fiver!

Citroen chevrons in the middle )I think it should really be over to the drivers side than pass side and a bit closer into the top corner really to make it just right :)

24-12-2005, 09:39 PM
Citroen chevrons in the middle :)

As well!? :?

Bump
25-12-2005, 10:42 AM
Chevrons middle, move VTS badge somehwere else, or find some small chevrons and put them top left ?

25-12-2005, 10:46 AM
You guys are obsessed with badges. Top left would look wrong, and chevrons as well? No. Ill do a photoshop later and prove my point

25-12-2005, 11:40 AM
Its later on, and here is a quick photoshop

In my opinion that looks smart with the chevrons on :D :D :D

26-12-2005, 12:47 PM
I think its either chevrons or vts badge. I went with the vts badge because it is a vts, and so its worth having the badge on it. The chevrons would probably look smarter, but I wouldn't have both

Bump
26-12-2005, 04:51 PM
How about VTS badge in the middle where the chevrons were then, have you tried that one ?

26-12-2005, 09:02 PM
I held it there before fixing it where it is ... Just looked a bit wierd :?
